Today was a considerably better day than I've had in a while.
I had to reschedule my latest sleep study appointment (which was supposed to be last night, AKA Tuesday night) because no one told me before arriving that I was to be tested throughout the day on Wednesday as well. And, since they don't have a cafeteria and I showed up sans snacks, I would've had to wander off with all my wires and bands attached to find food. NOT optimal. Also, I had a deadline to hit on Wednesday that I couldn't miss. So we rescheduled and I wasted nearly 1.5 hours and some gas. Ah well. Since I'd managed to get up by noon and did NOT nap, I was hella tired. Finished an editing job and went to bed by 1am.
Today I woke up around noon, got up, jumped online to document this fairly weird and vivid dream. Discovered that the previous night's client wanted me to take one last look at his paper, post-corrections and additions but before he headed out to class, so that netted me a little extra money. He paid me immediately via PayPal, which is nifty.
I also fielded a call from another potential client and emailed with someone who wants to pay me to read his book and give him some feedback. All right then, I can do that.
I finally installed Quicken, which I'd bought about a month ago, and started the basic set-up. I entered all my invoices for 2009 (discovering, in the process, that they've all been paid) and synchronized it with my PayPal account, then annotated the PayPal payments from an editing client with his invoice numbers.
I grabbed a shower and was running a little late for my guests (and they were a little early), but the BF showed them the spiffy new skylights while I finished getting dressed. Both
rmd and
i_leonardo, worried about me, came over to socialize and confirm in person that I'm not dead and have done myself no harm. That was very good for my mental state, cuz they some funny bitches. Caring, too. Thank you both, ladies.
I threw some laundry into the washer (don't worry - I'm not THAT productive. I'm just getting desperate for underwear and socks). A little cheezy TV (I really like
Lie To Me) and email before bed, where I discover that my membership information in the
Cambridge Academic Editors Network (CAEN) is up:
http://www.cambridge-editors.org/editors.html#CooperKelly So yeah. A good, relatively productive day. I think I could come to love or loathe Quicken. Maybe both.
And I definitely love my friends.
ETA: Also remembered to call my Grandma on her 86th birthday, thanks in part to a reminder call from Mom last night and in part to the reminder function on Thunderbird. Huzzah!
