Just not the right season.
It all started one day, maybe about a week ago, when I was noting aloud how it was such "lovely weather." Synapses fired, memories returned, the phrase was elongated: "Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you."
Soon enough, much of that verse returned to me. The lyrics I couldn't recall were mumbled mentally. The melody was contagious. I couldn't shake it, no matter what I tried.
"Sleigh Ride" festered in my subconscious for an entire day.
It refused to leave until I downloaded it and put it on repeat. When it did exit at last, it left me with an inexplicable hankerin' for holiday songs: "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Jingle Bells," "Jingle Bell Rock," "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire," "It's Beginning to Feel a Lot like Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," and, strangely enough, even "Do They Know It's Christmas?" have all at one point another been lodged in my brain this past week.
Oh, I did have one non-seasonal song that was stuck in my head, but it didn't provide any real relief: "The Sabre Dance." You might not recognize the name, but you'll definitely recognize
the tune (550 KB). Just be wary of its insane catchiness.
Why aren't there any Halloween songs?!?!?!
