So the date started off kinda awkward because it is just awkward to meet someone by opening your door and seeing them for the first time. Once we got talking it was fine though. He served his mission in Japan so we started off by going to dinner at a Japanese restaurant. The food was amazing. The dinner started off with this soup and after asking what was the proper way to eat it I took a sip. Then he was like, "Wait we forgot to pray. Would that be okay? Who would you like to say it?" I told him that he would say it which ended up being a good choice because I was laughing to myself through the whole thing. It is awkward enough to pray out loud in a restaurant but doing it on a date takes it to a whole new level. To make the situation even more interesting he gave a very flowery prayer. Let me tell you, it was a treat. We'll just say that the phrase, "I am so grateful to be out with this wonderful, pure, and beautiful girl" definitely came out of his mouth. I feel bad for mocking his prayer but you have to admit that it is pretty funny, especially since this occurred within 20 minutes of meeting me. After dinner we went and saw Avatar. He took the most round about way to get there and it drove me crazy. I'm sure he had no idea though. I really wasn't looking forward to seeing Avatar because it doesn't seem like my type of movie but it turned out to be awesome. I love that it is action packed but at the same time it definitely makes you think about a lot of things. After the movie we just got in the car to head back to my apartment. Right after we turned onto the main road (about 10 minutes from my apartment) he starts the "it was so nice and fun to go out with you, etc." date wrap up conversation. Not cool. Does he think we are going to have a DTR or something. I responded but changed the subject pretty successfully. At the end of the date he went in for a hand shake but I was going in for a hug so we did that. I think he was kinda surprised but I feel like a hug is always appropriate. I doubt I will ever see him again but it was a nice evening- awkward but nice.
