Far from the bright centre of the universe

It's strange being far away from everything that you know as home. Nothing seems real from this sort of distance, even with the modern technological advancements in mobile technology, intarweb messaging and instant access communication. It's not as if you can just jump on a bus and be round at a friend's house for succour and lively conversation.

It also generally means that when life decides to throw you a curve-ball then you end up in the unique position of literally being able to distance yourself from the situations and take a very pragmatic look at everything. It also means that nothing can be tangibly resolved.

Still, I'll be home this weekend. I have a feeling it's all going to be a bit strange.
