A year in reading (that's the verbal not the town)

Jan 04, 2009 23:40

I keep a note of what I read usually, (if I remember) and my god! it's been a slow year. I only read 13 books! Largely due, I would guess to my massively more involved role as a journalist this year and the time I'd usally devot to reading, on the bus or in the evenings, has been taken up somewhat by Viv distracting me with television and other children's pursuits.

It also marks a sad and bizarre turn of events where I've wound up beginning and ending the year with a novels, not only from the same author but sequential titles in a series. Mr Goodkind has much to answer for, especially in providing the only real historic fantasy I've delved into these last twelve months. No Hobbits or Rings, no Pernian Dragons nor Wheels of time in 2008. No just Goodkind and his retarded wimperings. God help me.

Soul of the Fire - Terry Goodkind
The Boy Who Kicked Pigs - Tom Baker
Forgotten Memories of the Holocaust - Various
Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt vonnegurt
Fight Club - Chuck palanhiuk
Name of the Rose - Umberto Eco
Cross of iron (Aka The Willing Flesh) - Willi Heinreich
Uzumaki - Junji Ito
World War Z - Max Brooks
Watchmen - Alan Moore
Bloodtide - Melvin Burgess
Gyo - Junji Ito
Ostrich Boys - Keith Gray
The Highwayman's Curse - Nicola Morgan
Sepulchre - James Herbert
Faith of the Fallen - Terry goodkind

Although I did manage to read a fair few trade paperbacks, and graphic novels, I;ve only included the ones I read on paper. So also included technically are the entirety of Transmetropolitan and The Chronicles of Wormwood.
Must try better this year, and to that effect I'm off to bed now to read more of The Zombie Survival Guide.
On which note I'll leave things with this amusing little film:

Wilderness Survival:How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse
