Don't worry about me, I'm gonna make it alright
Got my enemies crossed-haired in my sight
I take a bad situation gonna make it right
In the shadows of darkness I stand in the light
You see it's our style to keep it true
I've had a bad year, but I, I got through
I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue
She's not the one coming back for you
She's not the one coming back for you
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend
It takes disaster to learn a lesson
You're gonna make it through the darkest night
Some people betray one and cause treason
We're gonna make everything alright, Woooh
Well the worst of times, yeah, they don't phase me
Even if I look and act really crazy
On my way down, she betrayed me
Now my vision is no longer hazy
I'm very lucky to have my crew
They stood by me when she flew
I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue
She's not the one coming back for you
She's not the one coming back for you
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend
Oh man it's been a while since I've listened to Rancid! Seriously guys, these punks used to be the shizznittle-bam-snip-snap-sack, way before Good Charlotte and Blink-182. Perhaps some of the self-proclaimed "punks" (emo-kids, in all actuality) should take a lesson from the old-schoolers in what punk really was. Nowadays, it seems that anyone can scream into a microphone and call it music. "Oh, but it's emo-core!" Bullsh*t! If that's emo-core, then my grandmother rocks harder than today's bands, with their cookie-cutter riffs and "I wasn't loved" lyrics! Listen to some Rancid, pop some Voodoo Glow Skulls in your CD player, blast some f*ckin' Union 13! I'm not saying these people are the hardest rockers out there, nor am I saying that old-school punk music isn't the hardest music of all time. I'm just saying that the emo-kids of today need to sit down, shut up, and learn a lesson from the old-schoolers, the people who know what real punk music is. Being a punk used to be about having chaotic fun, living life your way and not giving a sh*t about what other people thought. Nowadays, it's all about fashion, looking "dark and mysterious," and covering your damn eyes with shaggy hair.
It's funny that non-conformity is the new way of conforming. "I'm going to show people just how far away from the norm I can get!" The funny part is: EVERYONE'S DOING THE SAME DAMN THING! Now, please tell me: Where do we get our sense of non-conformity from? Where do we learn what is the "cool" form of being uncool? Television. Radio. The media. The same place conformists get all their ideas. So tell me...are you not conforming, or are you just being like everyone else?
More to be posted later...It's 3:30AM here in Fernan-Nuñez, Spain, and I'm tired. Sweet dreams.
