"I'm SO blogging this!"
~Bernardo Antonio Serrano
Tony and I just got back from the Meridian Hookah Lounge, and I'm really glad I went. I got to taste the new flavors they just got in, say hi to Sevdiah, bang my head to some awesome tunes in the car, listen to "The Postal Service" at the lounge, and meet a fellow brother of the faith! I didn't get to see Brittany on after I got home (12:30 a.m.), but I'll have plenty of time to talk to her. Let's see...the rain check, her plot, my plot, and that consolation prize walk-n-talk! Haha, I hope you have some extra time on your hands, babe!
So I woke up today and went to the office with Dad, where I met Christine's brother (Christine works at "Coconuts," our bar). He took me home and we worked on the surveillance system, and he helped me fix the camera problem I was having, in which I wasn't getting video. Simply put, the metal braiding was supposed to have been in contact with the BNC connectors to act as a ground, but stupid me didn't know that! Oh well, it's all fixed, and everything's set up! It's kinda weird now...I walk through my house and the only thing I can think is a) "big brother is watching" and b) "smile, you're on candid camera!" Oh well, I'm sure I'll get used to seeing those freaky red LED's hanging from the ceiling eventually.
So now the house is hooked up with the DVR surveillance system. I'm so glad THAT is over! Oh boy, now I get to wonder if any of my friends are on the "remote viewer" watching my house LOL. Anyway, so when that was done, he left and I sat around the house and kinda lazied it for a bit. I started feeling "out of it," so I laid down with Sassie, and the next thing I knew, I woke up and it was 8:45 p.m.! I haven't been dreaming as of late, which is scaring me...I don't like not dreaming. Oh well, I'll pray that I dream tonight!
I got on AIM, talked to Brittany, Marisa and Stephen for a while, and Tony came into my room and asked if I wanted to go to the hookah lounge with him, since tonight was Sevdiah's belly-dancing night. I weighed the idea out, and in the end, I chose to go to the lounge. Thank you, Brittany, for helping me with that decision! I'm really glad I went, and aside from Tony, I have you to thank for it!
I called the lounge and asked if there were any tables free, and if they could reserve us a seat for two. They said that if we could make it there in 15 minutes, the table would be ours. WE HAULED IT OVER THERE! My brother isn't an agressive driver, but he was driving as quickly as he could to get there! It kinda reminded me of how I used to drive in the Eclipse! Anyway... We listened to the Voodoo Glow Skulls and SoundGarden on the way to the hookah lounge, and when we got there, Tony accidentally passed the complex's turn-in, so he pulled over, let me out, and I ran up to the door and barged in, saying, "Is that *gasp* table still *gasp* open?!" The whole staff was like, "CHE! Dude, what's going on with the 'fro?!" Haha, they know me over there for the 'fro...how magical.
So Tony and I got to share a table with two girls and a guy, and all was good. We had orange-mint, grape-vanilla, mint, rose-jasmine and to top it all off, a pure strawberry hookah! While we were going at it, the normal music died down, the lights brightened up, and Sevdiah, along with her music, came out to the center stage. I've got to say, that lady is absolutely wonderful! It seems that every time I see her, she gets better and better, incorporating new twists and turns into her routine. During her routine, she came over to our booth, rubbed Tony's belly for a moment and said, "Aw, you look comfortable!" She then gave him a kiss on the cheek and continued dancing. I don't think I've ever seen my brother's eyes opened so wide LOL! All-in-all, the show was amazing.
On the way out, I spotted a guy with dreaded hair, and I stopped and started to talk to him. We eventually got into the subject of Christianity when I asked him what the tattoo on his arm meant, and he said it was "brother" in Hebrew. He said he got the tattoo not only to publicly profess his love for Christ, but to also remind himself to greet others as "brothers," since we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, our Lord. I asked him if he was ever scolded for things like his tattoo, and the fact that he comes to a place where the "main event" is smoking. He said that he didn't get much heat from it, but he has. I recited Galacians 6:17 for him (17Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus), and we both agreed that we went there more for the social environment than for the smoking, and the music is nice as well. That led us to talk about drinking, and about how the Bible says that it's considered a sin when you drink to get drunk. We talked about how, in Jesus' last days, he was offered wine laced with myrrh, a sedative drug, and Christ refused, as He did not want to take away from his suffering, because in His suffering His passion was shown. I told him about my fear of needles, and how I had just donated blood, and how I honestly went through with it because I care. The night before, when I was lying awake in bed, the thought that ultimately brought me to do this was, "Would this make Jesus happy?" I think Jesus would be proud that I sacrificed my wellbeing for the wellbeing of others, breif as though my discomfort may have been. It was in Jesus' name that I donated blood. Eventually, we exchanged AIM screen names, and I was on my merry way home. I'm really glad to have met him. He's a wonderful Christian, and I can only see myself growing from this experience.
