Today is the first day of my much needed vacation from work. For some reason I couldn't get to sleep last night. I don't know if it was because I was so excited to be on vacation or because I finally got a call back from the Safe (Safeco Insurance) about a job I applied for. MAybe a little of both.
I haven't posted in awhile, so for those who aren't in the know (FIRL=friends in real life), I am in search of a different job. It is scary to think about leaving the bank after nearly eight years, but I am tired of feeling like a cog in the big wheel. I have invested far too much time, effort, and hard work to be where I am-a disgrunteled employee who does far too much work for what she is paid and feels as if she is drifting around the company doing jobs she really doesn't like. The job I am hoping for is as a Unit Manager in the Service Department for Safeco Insurance. The position looks promising since I have many of the skills and qualifications they are looking for. Everyone wish me luck.
I hate how everyone asks where you are going when you take a vacation from work. Like someone always has to be going out of town or doing something special because they aren't working. I know plenty of people who don't ever go anywhere when they take vacation time off of work. I don't have much planned for my vacation this week, just catching up on some school work and going to my Dad's to sort through some of my stuff he still has. I am sure my vacation will fly by like most of them usually do.
Here is what I've done so far on Vacation-Day #1:
-Had coffee at Starbucks
-Went grocery shopping
-Cleaned the livingroom, diningroom, and bedroom
-Wrote my section of our group paper for my management class
-Clipped my cat's nails
-Visited my husband's friend
-Went to the bank
-Cooked gumbo (it was ok, but I don't think I'd make it again)
-Watched "Troy" (It was ok, but of course there was way too much hype when it was in the theatres)
-Watched "Love Connection"
-Watched "Live 8"
I see a trend here, I am watching way too much TV already.
