It's just 'Tuzz against the world, baby...
What the fuck?! Ok. So Steve Moore had a questionably legal hit against the great Markus Naslund that concussed him for three (?) games. The Canucks promise retribution off the ice, and set the stage.
Todd Bertuzzi took it upon himself to even the score- IF you could even call it that. The Canucks were without MARKUS FUCKING NASLUND, and Bertuzzi went after, not Sakic, Kariya (that would have been funny), Selanne, Forsberg... any of the highlight all-star players on the Avalanche. He went after the man himself, Steve Moore. Granted, not many people are as big or bear-like as Todd Bertuzzi, but I've seen Chris Neil hold his own against the best the league has to offer, and little Tie Domi manhandle his share of ruffians. Returning to my point though, Bertuzzi goes after Moore, and Moore fucking won't be called out?!?! What the fuck?! This is the guy who thought his [elbow] was fair, and now he won't man-up and tussle with Tuzz. This guy deserved a pasting. I don't agree that a cheap shot was the best course of action, but this yellow-bellied coward had his coming. Bertuzzi is suspended for the remainder of the year plus playoffs. This, I believe is fair. It was a cheap shot, and although there are lots of those in every sport today, the outcome (see: broken neck) warranted a more severe penalty to keep a humane image of their sport.
In closing, I wish someone would take the time to explain why Todd Bertuzzi should not be facing criminal charges and a possible lifetime ban from the NHL. Those punishments are too severe, considering that Tuzz, like me, at the time of the incident just figured that Steve Moore didn't even have a spine to break.
