well, it's almost 3am, and i'm beat. i think i'd feel more better about today (or these last few days) if these damn allergies weren't kicking my ass. i feel miserable!
the tour has been interesting. from the pinoy/pinay party people in pullman, to the gringofarians in bellingham, to the bright lights in sac town, it's been a mixed bag of experiences. the traveling has been no joke neither. and oh yeah, the interviews. i'm sure there's a better way to manage all of this. but hey, when we look back one day, we'll be able to say that we were a part of history. and that's what this is, really. a new generation of community activism manifested through music and performance. it may not be the most perfect tour, but hopefully it'll set a precedence for the future. and hopefully it will help folks see the value and the crucial role that music plays in this work of ours.
regarding one of our tour stops: i was clearly reminded that challenging white privilege has a long way to go. from (yet another) white person jumping on the stage (without an invitation) during my set, to flying white elbows and knees invading personal space on the dance floor, to certain white people feeling so entitled that they need not take a fucking shower ("so what if i stank? i'm white!"), and in general, being made to feel invisible and straight up disrespected in a sea of whiteness... there was just something about this place that just magnified all of this.
makes me just wanna... put my face on chrome!
