I haven't been on live journal for weeks, but I am still alive and many things happened...
I went to an Italian restaurant called Bu ca De Peppo( Not sure about the spelling) at foothill with Brett, Kent and Yuuki one night. It was fun. Their garlic bread was veeeery good and their pizza was thin and very delicious too. I didn't know pizza could be that thin since I only had pizza from the dining halls before. Anyway, the food was really good.
Then, Kent's girlfriend came to visit him. She was in the same study abroad program that Kent went to. I wasn't sure if she was kent's girlfriend at first. When I was there watching a movie with them in the Japanese lounge one night, Kent kept touching her hair and put his arm around her shoulder. And she didn't refuse his action. So I guess she is his girlfriend. She left several days later. Kent couldn't go and visit her because she is Korean and her parents only want her to date some Korean guy. This is what Kent told me. I think that's very stupid.
Last week, I went to Yosemite with Brett. We got there around 12:00pm and found that most camp sites were full. It was because many camps sites were flooded the night before we went there and the Park had to move all the reservations for those spots to the left three nice and fancy camp sites in the valley. We were told that those sites would remain full for at least five consecutive days. Luckily we found that there was still one walk-in camp site and we got a spot there (and it was also full several hours later). So if any of you guys wanted to go to Yosemite this summer or in the future, it's better to make a reservation early.
The camp ground we stayed is called Camp 4. It was also in the valley, very close to the Yosemite fall. Compared to other camp grounds like the Upper pine, Lower pine, Camp 4 is much cheaper: it's only $5 a day per person while others are about $20 a day per person. Also camp 4 was filled with real backpackers and international students/travelers while other camp grounds were for American families. When Brett and I started to set up our tent, we felt a little embarrassed because we brought with us a cooler, a table, two chairs and two air mattress. They seemed to be luxurious stuff in camp 4. We called Camp 4 "the Hippies'." Brett and I had to move all our belongs to our spot by hand because cars were not allowed to go into the camp ground. No food and toiletry could remain in the car or tent. They should go to some iron boxes so that bears couldn't get them. We felt annoyed by this rule at first, but later when we saw a bear trying to get some food out of those boxes we were glad that we obeyed the rule.
We did some hiking and enjoyed some natural sceneries when we were in Yosemite. It was amazing to see how different Yosemite was this year due to the rain we got in California this year. We hiked up to the top of Vernal Fall. We got all soaked up on the way up because of the water mist. It was crazy.
I watched "Anger Management" with Brett one night. I told him that Jack Nicholson used to be a player for the Lakers. Casey and James told me that when we watched the NBA game once. "Really? hmmm... I have never heard of it," Brett said. "Yeah. Casey and James told me that Jack won several prize when he played for the Lakers. And after he retired from the Lakers, he became an actor," I said admiringly. "Are you sure they were not joking with you when they told you that?" Brett asked. "But why should they joke about that with me? They seemed pretty serious when they told me that," I answered. So after I got home, I looked up Jack Nicolson on internet and in his profile I saw "fan of the Lakers." Still don't understand why Casey and James wanted to trick me on that.
My friend came to visit me from China this week. She was the other candidate for the next Chinese Language Resident. But she didn't get the position because she doesn't have an experience teaching Chinese. She came for a meeting at Chicago, but she decided to stop at LA and D.C. first. We got a ride from some CGU Chinese friends and went to Universal Studio and Disneyland. I was Soooooooo tired. But it was fun though. We did several rides and screamed loud all the time. In one ride, we fell from a place that is 84 feet hight. I felt like I was sucked into a big black whole by some enormous power. It was exciting... hehhehe... When we came out from that ride, we saw our pictures on the computer scream. Everyone's face was twisted in a funny way that even the guys working there laughed very hard at those pictures.
My friend left this morning. We woke up at 4:00am and she took a shuttle to LAX. I slept all day and I am getting tired again now...
bed time.
