just a little update

to answer the call from Chris about updating journals, I decided to spend a little time on this. =)

I have been busy all the time. As you might have known that I have started teaching Chinese for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week two weeks befor my Spring semester ended.

Brett swing by to visit for two days during the final week as some of you might have known. Then, he went back for the graduation. Brett came up again after he left Chris' house so that he could facilitate Chris and Wulan's visit to Monterey and he probably will go home this weekend.

While he was here, we went to Big Basin, a state park above Santa Cruz. We saw a yellow bug, I don't remember it's name, it's the animal sign for UC Santa Cruz. And I think it looks very disgusting although Brett said that I should love nature more. But It is disgusting. We also went to Ranch 99 at Cupertino. It was not as good as the Ranch 99s at Southern California and there were not as many good restaurants. We ate in a Taiwanese style restaurant. The food was good, but only good in a degree that you can't always eat it --- maybe once every two or three weeks would be good. We also had Boba at a Tian Ren Tea Station, but it was not as good as the ones in Rowland either. Anyway, i was still very excited and satisfied about eating all the 80% authentic Chinese food. There is not one single slightly good Chinese restaurant in Monterey.

For the rest of the time while Brett's here, he just cooked lunch and dinner for me since I am so busy with my teaching. I spend three hours also every day just to prepare for the lessons, and have to teach for another three hours. So it was a big help that he could cook the meals.

Some disadvantage of having Brett here:

1. my bed is not good for two people like us. Because Brett is much heavier than I, the mattress sunk on his side and I felt like sleeping on a slope, just like some camp grounds. Also, the bed is not long enough for him so he always bent his body, which means he would take more space than he actually need if he could stretch out his feet. And it’s painful for me, who have been sleeping all by myself all these years. I am secretively looking forward to the day that he would go home and I could make up for my sleep. Suggestions for anyone who have to share a bed with another person: get two single beds.

2. Brett got emotional about friendship and wined too much tonight.

hmmm.. seems I spend more time than I should on this journal. oh well.
