...if you play me a dancing song

warped tour rocked...a lot. the "punk pilgrimage", as i titled it, was nothing short of amazing. between good music, semi-decent food, free swag, 500+ shags and one huge (and i mean HUGE) afro, the day was good.

julie drove, and we made it there in greeeat time.

the pilgrimage began from a parking lot far, far away...well not that far.

little did we realize that there were literally a zillion kids already waiting in line.

julie and christy..aww so cute!

julie and i...my flat iron had already betrayed me at this point.

i snagged these two from the warped site. the crowd was insane and there were lots of tents and things to check outttt.

we had basically come to see washington social club, so we were stressing that we had already missed them by the time we got into the venue. but as luck would have it, we ended up getting front and center for their set. niiice!

everyone's favorite brooding rock god, evan "fucking" featherstone, wearing a silly hat.

that's better.

they put on an absolutely amazing show and totally saw us dancing and singing along. we chatted with marty, the lead singer, in their tent after the show, and before we could say anything, he said "hey, you guys were at the phantom planet show, right?" and after letting him know of our profound love for WSC, he replied, "yeah, i saw you guys singing all the words, that's intense!" love it.

we ate on the ground in true rock 'n roll fashion (err...not)...haha my lone $8 chicken nuggets and fries are on the ground.

we ran into kelly, too! we gushed about our rock star encounters (hers with the hot dude from socratic) and met up a few more times. we even have kinda-matching pearls!

this guy had white makeup on, though this pic fails to show it & it was quite icky. goth is over, dude.

i really liked this band, the kinison, who i had never heard before. madness ensued when they brought kids up onstage to dance with them. it was amazing.

there was an insane amount of trash. imagine a huuuge stadium parking lot covered like this.

after a day of intense warped-ness, we still looked pretty darn cute.

in total, we ended up seeing washington social club, the kinison, some of sugarcult, some anti-flag who i don't really even like, the end of "try honesty" by billy talent (i loove that song), most of yellowcard, and a bit of taking back sunday. fun! we missed the used & coheed and cambria since they were on much later, but oh well.

other random happenings include:
-seeing a ton of kids wearing TREOS shirts...they weren't playing, so it was weird but cool.

-the mohawked lead singer of Anti-Flag ranting, reeeeeeally really loudly: "IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR HAIR LOOKS LIKE! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT COLOR YOUR SKIN IS! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE IS!" and various political freakouts. it was entertaining.

-trumpet player in planet smashers that frolicked with said trumpet and then broke it.

-A random kid who walked by us in line singing "i'm from texas, my state is better than you fuckers" or something to that effect.

-a really bad white british rapper lady who was just...the worst ever.

-free drive-thru records cd and a fuse pin!

-the above-mentioned 500+ shags. there could never be such a high concentration of shags in one place again.

so, really fun times. ahh..um i need to hang out with people i haven't seen in a while!
