2013 Soundtrack

Dec 28, 2013 19:18

Taking a page out of chestnutcurls' book and posting my 2013 Soundtrack via Spotify. It's a very short one this time - only 10 songs - but I tend to be very set in my ways when it comes to listening to music and stick to the same-old-same-old all the time. But at least I found a few new ones this year :)

Time In Between - Francesca Battistelli Actually this one is curtesy of Spotify's recommendation engine. It doesn't often get me right, but when it does it is spot on! I especially love the start:
"You were there when your Father said
Let there be light
You obeyed when He whispered
Son, You have to leave tonight
To spend nine months in a mothers womb
Three days in a borrowed tomb

But it's the time in between
That brings me to my knees"

10,000 Reasons - Cornerstone We sang this again and again at the Women's Conference this year, and I love it. It got deep into my soul and I couldn't stop singing it for ages after.

Our God - Chris Tomlin Another song from the Women's Conference. "And if our God is for us, then what can stand against?"

Heartbreaker - Marina and the Diamons And then we move to a completely different genre. This one is Lars' "fault". He's been playing it so often that I've ended up liking it.

Sku' ha' gået hjem - Sys Bjerre I really like the Danish singer, Sys Bjerre, and as this was one of her biggest hits this year, it belongs on this list.

We Are Family - Sister Sledge The song we made a happening to at Mixi's wedding. I think it'll be quite awhile before I can listen to it again without recalling that day - and Mixi's shouts of delight and surprise as she saw who got up to dance with us ;)

Only Teardrop - Emmilie de Forest Disclaimer - I actually don't like this song at all! However, it was the Danish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest... and it WON!!!! So even if I don't particularly like it myself, it does say 2013 to me.

Kære Fader - Torben Callesen One of my favourite Danish songs of worship. We sang it at church one day early this year, and I immediately feel in love, and wrote as much here. 2 weeks later we sang it again at Simon's baptism. I mentioned to Rebekka that I loved that song, and she replied that she knew and that it was my mentioning it here that made her think of it and pick it for the baptism. Awesome! :)

Roar - Katy Perry This became 2013's road-trip music for Lars and I. And when I got to see the music video made at CHAD (under cut), I was sold.

Elephant - Mads Langer More road-trip music. Lars didn't care much for this one because "the lyric doesn't fit the music!" but I think it's kinda cute :) For some weird reason this one doesn't show up in the playlist above, so here is the direct link.
