I LOVE Cold Sassy Tree!! It's one of my favorite books!! The "sequel" (and I use that word loosely. She never finished it, and it's half of a novel plus a bunch of her notes and ideas for the rest of it) is fairly decent too. Or at least the part that's fully written is!
I'm pretty sure I've read Though None Go with Me. I know I've seen the Hallmark Channel movie, but I'm pretty sure I'd read the book before.
I'll add the others to my list though! Thanks Mel!
PS- how are you? Things still going okay out in Texas?
I like the "sequal" too, but you're right, it's not quite as good. I may have given you Though None Go With Me when we lived in New Hall. It's mucho bettero than the movie (they changed the story too much). Redeeming Love is my all time favorite though. Go for that one first. :)
PS - I'm ok. Things are going pretty good out here. We need to catch up on a few things though. Give me a call when you get a chance.
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen ~ A young man named Jacob hops a train to take him to town to try to find a job during the Great Depression. The train ends up being a circus train, and because the young man was just about to graduate veterinary school when he lost everything, the circus ring leader decides to let him stay on. Unfortunately, he falls in love with the star of the show, who happens to be married, and that obviously doesn't go over well with her husband.
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella ~ A quick chick lit read about how Becky's shopping habits almost cost her everything. Very funny.
Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom ~ Mitch recalls visiting an old college professor, Morrie, who's been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, and what Mitch learned during Morrie's final months.
When Light Breaks by Patti Calahan Henry ~ A woman named Kara begins volunteering at a nursing home, and one of the residents she visits begins asking her about her childhood sweetheart. Kara, who's engaged, decides to track down

SQUEE!! Thanks for the recommendations!! I'd already added Water of Elephants after your post about it several months ago. :) I can't wait to read these they all sound great! :) Thanks!
For a little deeper read, may I suggest R. Masterson's "What Dreams May Come" (good book, makes some great points, although I liked the movie based on it better), and M. Kundera's "The Incredible Lightness of Being." Virtue and vice, conveniently wrapped in extreme perspectives.

Though None Go With Me - Jeryy B Jenkins - another good tear-jerker
Cold Sassy Tree - Olive Ann Burns - little boy growing up in the South -around the same time period as To Kill A Mockingbird
Wicked, Son of a Witch, and any other twisted fairytale by - Gregory McGuire
Angels and Demons - Dan Brown (it's better than Davinci Code)
