What would you do?
Note: this is a hypothetical situation.
Let's say you had a good friend, Mary. And Mary had a huge crush on her really good friend, Bob. Mary and Bob were really close. Bob then graduates and moves to the big city. Bob and Mary continue to talk (phone IM etc) and hang out when Bob comes into town.
About two months after Bob moves, your friend Sally(who also knows Mary and Bob) calls you with "BIG NEWS!" She spent the weekend in the big city with some friends of hers. They went to a gay bar and she saw Bob there, with a guy. She says that they looked pretty "cosy" together.
This scenario repeats itself a few weeks later, only this time Sally sees Bob holding hands and kissing the guy. Sally "bumps into" Bob at the bar, and they chat for a few minutes. Bob confirms that he's gay.
You know that this news would break Mary's heart. She's of narrower mindset that you, and you know she
"doesn't approve" (her words not mine) of gay people. Without expressly saying so, Bob gave Sally the impression that he didn't want his college friends to know.
So, do you tell Mary and help her mend her broken heart? Or, do you not say anything and wait for Bob to tell her himself?
Again, I say this is a hypothetical situation!! Any resemblance to actual people or circumstances is purely coincidence.
