it's confirmed ... i really truly am off to MT for my summer break

signed up for mileage plus (United)
worked out - given my current itinerary - that my outward trip (WLG plane takeoff to plane landing - MSO) will be 36 hours 45 minutes, of which 22 hours and 27 minutes is flying time
and my inward trip will be 30 hours (ok 29 hours and 59 minutes!) of which 22 hours and 15 minutes is flying time
i'm thrilled with the TA's service - went to pay and discovered that my next-door neighbour works there - if i'd known that first time around i'd have gone there for my first trip
i signed up with mileage plus so that i can have a seat upgrade in future flights :)
and the really fun thing is being able to keep an active eye on my reservations and change my seat if i want etc ... it's like having a new toy
the interesting thing will be comparing the service to AIRNZ - i already know there's differences as the AirNZ flight had personal entertainment/tv/video screens and UA doesn't; the MEL-LAX/LAX-SYD is a longer flight too
