So, this is a question for all of my fellow camera and photo editing fiends.

I am finding that the images I see on my computer screen are really quite different not only to what I see printed, but also different to how they appear on other computer screens.  Case in point, this photo.....

*sheepish look* I've never calibrated my desktop monitor. So I can't help you there. But I totally know what you're talking about regarding the difference in viewing pix on different monitors - I learned that really quick when I started to cap, then 'scrub' those caps. And the same when I got my digital camera.

My pix are lighter and brighter on the HP pavilion f1703 flat panel monitor than the TV screen-type top monitor at work. Interestingly the pix show up bigger at work (something about pixels on CRT? Dunno.) But do know there's a difference. And sometimes things show a wee bit different on the lappie. But the biggest difference is between the desktop monitor and the work monitor.

And when I was asked to make a CD of my SL AT pix to give to AT, then I learned really quick on my own about the sizing and the lightening of the pix for print by messing with it and printing a few test pix. (And seeing real quick the cheap Lexmark printer that came with the bundle is not the best thing for pix.) *sighs* And it's a terrible thing to admit, but I now have nearly a year's worth of pix in the hard drive and not one printed.......

I do see in your pic (here on the home desktop monitor) the same thing you described. I got into my PSE3 and it looked the same there to me, so I tried adjusting the shadows menu (a pop-up dialog box in mine) and increased the percentage to lighten it a wee bit and did what Ses said to the upper slider, but not down as far as 225.
