So, this is a question for all of my fellow camera and photo editing fiends.
I am finding that the images I see on my computer screen are really quite different not only to what I see printed, but also different to how they appear on other computer screens. Case in point, this photo.....
I can see several things - the foreground is completely black (about 1/4 screen), then there is a mass of city lights where you can see light lined streets (in the middle 1/2), then the mountains in slightly lighter black, then the gradient of post-sunset light from light orange to almost grey at the top.
I highly suspect that you guys can't see that much detail - when I looked at this photo at work all I could see was black with a few dots of light in the middle, and then they sky.
So, my question is - what are you guys seeing here??
And two - do you guys calibrate your computer screens? And if so, how?
I'd like to put together a few photo books, but if what I'm seeing is that different then I fear I would only be very disappointed :S
