I Should Tell You
“That one, there, that looks like a bunny rabbit! See the fluffy tail!” Alex and Gene were in his bed, looking up at ceiling, which was painted in a way so that there were loads of lumps. They were making images out of the lumps. Alex was pointed in the area that she saw the rabbit. Gene pulled a face and turned him face to look at her.
“Does not. What have you been smoking, Bolly?” He turned his face back up to the ceiling as Alex rolled her eyes at him. “Now there, that looks like some bastard is getting a good kicking.” It was Alex’s turn to pull a face.
“What the- no it doesn’t!”
“Does too.”
“Does not.”
“Does too.”
“Does not!”
“Does bloody too!”
“Does bloody not!”
“Oh, I could do this all day.” Gene smirked. Alex smiled slightly, the kid in Gene was coming out and it just made him more adorable. “I’ve never done this before…” Gene said, still looking at the ceiling. Alex didn’t know if this was directed at her or whether it was a thought-out-loud. She sighed and kept looking at the ceiling.
“Molly- my daughter and I used to do this all the time. We’d stare at the same ceiling but we’d always come up with different things and end up telling stories.” Alex smiled sadly, the thought of her daughter making her slightly upset. Oh how she’d missed seeing her everyday, missed her daughter’s cheekiness, serving her dinner every night, her laugh, the small things. The sadness must of shown through her face as Gene looked at her. Best cheer her up. Damn this stupid thing called a conscience.
“Right, Bolly Knickers. If you had only one moment left on Earth, what would it be?” Gene said, grinning. Alex looked at him, Molly leaving her brain slowly.
“I so knew that would come and haunt me one day.” Alex moaned, putting her hand on her head, smiling. She sighed, placing her hand back onto the bed. She looked up at the ceiling, thinking. She bit her lip as she thought which wasn’t helping Gene. “Erm…” She turned her head so that her cheek was on the pillow, face to face with Gene. She smirked in a rather flirty way. “As corny as it sounds… a- actually, no, I’m not going to tell you because you’d just laugh at me.”
“When have I ever laughed at you?” Gene said, trying to look innocent but failing miserably. “Come on, don’t be a wuss, just tell me.”
“No.”
“Aw, come on, Bolly, don’t leave me hanging like this.”
“Since when have you cared about anything I say.”
“Since you slept in my bed.” Alex raised an eye brow at Gene who smirked at her. She sighed, knowing she was fighting a loosing battle.
“Fine. Fine. Seeing as my daughter is far, far, far away… I would like… a kiss,” she whispered, not breaking eye contact with Gene. There was something about what she said and the way he was looking at her that she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
“From who?”
“Ah. Now that would be telling, Gene.”
“Well, it can’t be that Evan bloke because he tried to kill you and though I am not the most knowledgeable about women but I know that that is not a romantic gesture most women like,” Gene said, as-matter-of-factly. Alex laughed slightly, still looking at him.
“No. Not Evan.”
“Ray? Chris?”
“No and no.”
“…Shaz?”
“Gene!” Alex exclaimed, slapping him in the chest.
“OW! What?! Can’t blame a guy for fantasying!” Gene said, defensively. Alex closed her eyes, shaking her head.
“Oh God, what is wrong with my mind that-”
“Me?” Alex opened her eyes and looked at Gene who was looking at her simply.
“You?”
“That is what I said, Bolly.” Alex and Gene didn’t break eye contact. Alex was running through her head whether or not to tell him. She didn’t really want to give him the satisfaction that she wanted to kiss him yet there was the simple fact that she did want to kiss him and that Gene, at that moment in time, probably wouldn’t resist. Should she take advantage of the situation? Hell yeah. She moved so that her head was inches from his.
“And what if it is you? What if it is you that I want to kiss before I die? What are you going to do about it, Gene Hunt?” Alex said seductively, her eyes wandering from his eyes to his lips and back again. Gene smirked slightly, the animal in his stomach rawing in triumph. Now, what was he going to do? Give her the satisfaction of that he wanted to kiss her too yet there was the simple fact that he did want to kiss her and that Alex, at that moment in time, definitely wasn’t going to resist. Take advantage? I bloody think so.
“Well, Bolly, are you dieing right now?”
“I could be.”
“Then, I feel it is my rightful duty to-” But before Gene could finish his sentence, Alex had smacked her lips onto his. Gene’s eyes were wide open as he wasn’t expecting it to happen right that second. He quickly closed his eyes and put a hand on Alex’s cheek as he kissed her back. Alex was half expecting Gene’s lips to be rough but they weren’t. Quite the opposite. They were smooth and warm, almost welcoming. At that moment, nothing mattered. She didn’t care that she was in a different time zone. She didn’t care that Molly wasn’t with her. She didn’t care that Evan was, essentially, a ‘bad guy’. All that mattered was that she was there, with Gene having one of the sweetest kisses she’d ever had. Gene began to move so that he was now on top of Alex, but without breaking the kiss. Gene’s tongue brushed against Alex’s lip’s wanting access of which she greatly obliged. Gene, thankfully, didn’t taste of cigarettes but of whiskey which Alex didn’t mind. Her hands made there way to his dark blond hair and his neck, deepening the kiss even more. Gene’s hands were roaming her neck and chest, everything he’d dreamed of touching he touched. He parted from Alex and looked down at her. She gave him a puzzling look.
“What?” Gene didn’t reply. “What?” She repeated.
“Are you sure?” Alex smiled; the Tin Man has a heart after all. She moved her hand so that she could stroke his rough cheek.
“I’m sure. I’m so very sure.” That’s all he needed. After Alex spoke her last word, Gene swooped down and kissed her again, unbuttoning her shirt as she unbuttoned his trousers.
