Sorry for taking about a month to finish this. Lately I've been having real life problems to have time to write. I'm sure I have some readers out there so just want to thank you all for reading :) I dont mind if you stay silent XD A little note, T.O.P was suppose to be the original antagonist, but I learned that Seungri is close with Hara in real life since they went to the same school. So Seungri made the cut of being the bad guy ahaha... Well here is the next chapter!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sooyoung and Sunny went over to the karaoke place that was close by from the bookstore. They got themselves a room and begin singing songs. Sunny went up first, choosing a song by Gavy NJ. She begins singing.
"saranghago sipeo neoreul gatgo sipeo
(I want to love, I want to have you)
bamsae junbihaetdeon malhanmadi motaetjiman
(even though I can't say the words I prepared all night)
naegen neoppuniya nal ullineun saram nareul seollegehan dan han saram
(You're the only one for me, the one that makes me cry, the one person that makes my heart flutter)
apado joheungeol gajilsun eobseodo
(It's okay if it hurts, even if I can't have you)
neoui dwieseo nan neoman ganjikhamyeo salge
(I'll stay beside you and live cherishing only you)
geuraedo gwaenchanha neol saranghaeseo neol bolsuman itdamyeon
(It's okay because I love you... if I can just see you)"
Sooyoung closes her eyes as Sunny sings the song, her mind at ease. She felt the shorter girl's emotions in the song and her powerful but sweet voice amplified those emotions even more. When Sunny finished, Sooyoung applauded. Sunny gives a quick bow and a smile. "You have an amazing voice, Sunny," Sooyoung comments.
"Thank you," Sunny says sheepishly. She felt her heart pound hard into her chest when Sooyoung said that. She hands the mic to Sooyoung. "Your turn!"
Sooyoung accepts the mic and thanks her. "I already know what I want to sing. It's by DBSK."
"Harumahn nibahng eui chim nae gah dwei goh shipuh (oh baby)
(I want to be your bed in your room for just a day)
Duh ddah seu hee poh geun hee nae poom eh gahm ssah ahn goh jae oo goh shipuh
(I want to make you go to sleep, comfortably, warmly in my arms)"
'Ah! I know this song. I love it so much,' Sunny thinks to herself. She watches Sooyoung sings. She could feel that Sooyoung was pouring all of her heart into it. 'I wonder if she's thinking about Hara when she sings this song...' Sunny snaps out of her thoughts and soon enough, Sooyoung was almost near the end.
"Uhn jeh ggah jee nuh eui gyuh teh yuhn een eu roh eet goh shipuh
(I want to be your lover forever)
Nuh reul nae poom eh gah deuk ahn eun chae
(When you are in my arms, I want to become stone)
Geud uh buh ryuh seu myuhn shipuh young wohn hee
(So we can stay this way forever)"
Sunny claps enthusiastically. Out of nowhere Sooyoung gently tosses her a mic. "Let's sing a trot song together! How about this one from Park Hyun Bin?"
Sunny laughs. "That one? Sure! This will be fun!" Sooyoung smiles brightly. The music already begins to play.
Shabang Shabang!
---------------------------------------------------------
Sunny and Sooyoung took a bus home. They were exhausted from their day but they had fun. The bus was empty, with the exception of them and the bus driver. It was late in the afternoon.
"I'm glad we hung out today," Sunny says, sitting next to Sooyoung.
"Me too. I'm glad we ended the day with laughter," Sooyoung says. Sunny guessed she talking about how the day began with the story about Hara and Seungri. "Thanks for making my day."
"Well there is a reason why my name is 'Sunny', you know." She winks at Sooyoung, causing her to giggle. Sunny suddenly yawns her eyelids growing heavier. "Sleepy.."
"We still have a few more stops until we-" Sunny's head falls onto Sooyoung's shoulder, her eyes closed. Sooyoung blushes a bit then smiles. She brushes Sunny's bangs away from her face. "Guess I'll wake you up when we get there."
Sooyoung does not notice the content expression of Sunny's face.
------------------------------------------------------
It was the following Monday in school, and Sunny was taking notes as Ms. Park was lecturing. Next to her, Sooyoung had a notebook and pencil in hand, but was dozing off in dreamland. Since they were in the back it was possible that Ms. Park didn't notice Sooyoung sleeping. Sunny tears off a piece of binder paper, crumples it, and throws it at the sleeping girl. Sooyoung felt the impact and wakes up slightly dazed. She turns to Sunny who was giggling. Sooyoung frowns at her.
"Sunny," Ms. Park calls.
"Y-Yes?" Sunny responds, startled.
"I need you to go to the copying center. Make about 10 copies of this packet because we don't have enough for the class."
"Are you sure you want me to do it?"
"Of course," her teacher smiles. "If you don't know where it is, there are signs on the wall that direct you to it so you won't get lost." Without another word, Sunny takes the packet and leaves the classroom.
She walks down the hallway and finds a sign pointing to the copying center. Sunny walks even further already making two corner turns. 'Where the heck is it? Is it on the other side of the school?' She makes another turn and before realizing it, she runs into a stack of books a girl was holding.
"Ow!"
"Aaah!"
The girls fall to the ground, the stack of books around them. Sunny rubs her face and looks at the girl with surprise. "Hara! Oh my God I'm sorry! I didn't mean to run into you."
Hara shakes her head. "It's alright. I should have looked where I was going. Then again carrying all these books is hard."
"Here let me help you pick them up. Wait... where did my packet go?"
Hara picks up a book and finds something underneath. "Is this it?" She picks it up and hands it to Sunny.
"Ah thanks Hara. Where are you going?"
"Oh I need to make copies of certain pages for this research paper I'm doing. Ugh. The copying machine at the library broke down so I'm going to the main copying center."
Sunny smiles. "Same here! I need to make extra copies of this packet. Let's go there together."
Hara nods. "Sure. At least you don't have to carry all these books. This is why I hate doing research papers.."
"Here let me help. I can carry some of the books," Sunny offers.
"Aww thanks Sunny unni. I appreciate it," Hara grins.
'Unni?' Sunny thinks to herself. Then smiles inwardly. She takes some of the books and the two walk over to the copying center.
When they arrived they chose the machines that were next to one another. They started to copy what they needed to. The silence that hung over them was peaceful. Sunny glances over at Hara who was humming to herself as she copied pages from the books. Remembering the story she heard from Sooyoung, Sunny wonders if Hara's appearance right now was a facade; if she was faking her happiness to not make others worry. Sunny worries for the younger girl. Her heart jumps when Hara turns her head and their eyes meet.
"Is there something wrong? You've been staring at me for awhile now."
"Err you knew..?"
"I felt it," Hara chuckles lightly, still copying. "Is something on your mind?"
"Oh nothing really," Sunny lies. "Hey I'm just wondering, Hara which side of town do you live in?"
"I'm on the opposite end of where you and Sooyoung live. It's not that far from the school though."
"Do you usually walk home alone?"
"No. I usually walk home with my neighbors Seungyeon and Gyuri. Sometimes Sooyoung walks with us."
Sunny slowly nods. "That's good..." she mutters under her breath.
Hara abruptly stops copying her books. She keeps a steady gaze at the older girl. "What was that?"
"Oh erm.. n-nothing.." Sunny says fidgetting under Hara's unreadable eyes.
Silence. Then, "You know... don't you Sunny? About what happened to me and Sooyoung last year?" Sunny gulps. Hara laughs then smiles gently. "It's okay Sunny you don't have to hide it. It's alright."
Sunny grows uncomfortable. "But... I promised Sooyoung..."
"I promise I won't tell her. It's not like you you brought it up on purpose anyway. " Hara resumes copying, focusing on the machine though her voice is to Sunny. "When it deals with Seungri... I do get scared. And I know Sooyoung is always there for me, trying to be strong for the both of us. But... when she does, I feel like I'm nothing but a burden to her." Determination flares from Hara's eyes. "That's why I want to become stronger. Strong enough to face Seungri and not weaken under his glare."
Sunny could not help but admire Hara's courage. "How long have you known Seungri?"
"Seungyeon, Gyrui, and I have known him since elementary. We all went to the same school at that time. He's really changed since then..." There was a hint of nostalgia and sorrow in Hara's voice.
Sunny finishes copying the packet, shuffing and straightening the papers. She knew that was the place to stop asking questions. "I'm sorry for bringing this up."
Hara shakes her head. "No need to be. I'm okay with it. Really."
"I better get back to class. Don't want my teacher waiting," Sunny says. "And Hara if you're ever sad, don't hide it. There's a reason why you have friends." Sunny briefly hesitates before adding, "And Sooyoung."
"Thanks Sunny. I'll keep your advice in mind," Hara smiles. "I'll see you later then." The girls wave goodbye.
Outside of the center Sunny heads back to class, clutching the stack of thick papers close to her chest. The hallway was so quiet, she could hear her own footsteps lightly slap against the floor with each step she took. Sunny sighs, slightly unsure.
'Just why did I hesitate mentioning Sooyoung to Hara? What have I gotten myself into?"
---------------------------------------
"Sunny where you going?!" yells Tayeon. It was lunch already.
"Ow! Jeez Taeyeon I'm right next to you. Don't have to yell," chuckles Sunny. "I'm just going to go somewhere to clear my thoughts that's all. I have a lot on my mind."
"But but...! Something amazing will happen this lunch period! And and...! Oh my God, it'll be spectacular!!" Taeyeon looks at Sunny with puppy dog eyes, a pout on her lips.
Sunny smiles and pats Taeyeon's head. "I won't be long. I'm come to the table when I'm done." Finally Taeyeon nods in defeat. At that moment, the girl Sunny remembers as Hyoyeon slowly walks past them, going in the opposite direction of the cafeteria.
"Oh no you don't!" Taeyeon stops Hyoyeon by pulling on her ponytail. You're suppose to help with the you-know-what!"
"But I have to go practice my dance routine!" Hyoyeon whines, attempting to wiggle free.
"Meaning you're going to text Eunhyuk," Taeyeon snickers. Hyoyeon grunts and makes a face. "Come on you're coming with me, even if I have to drag you to the table. Well I hope to see you later Sunny!" Taeyeon waves with one hand, the other still having a firm grasp on Hyoyeon's hair.
"Aaaaah let me go, Tae!!!"
Sunny laughs at the sight, feeling sorry for Hyoyeon and startled how violent Taeyeon could be. Sunny aimlessly wanders around. She had no idea where she was going or what she wanted to do. She sees a sign that points to the building's roof. 'The roof huh. Never been there before but it sounds peaceful.' Sunny follows the signs and arrows and eventually finds the staircase to the roof. She quickly climbs the stairs and reaches the entrance leading to the roof. Opening the door, Sunny feels the cool crisp breeze of the spring wind, the sun's warm rays crawling on her skin. A chain fence surrounded the edges of the roof.
Sunny walks to the edge, holding onto the fence and watches the view. She could see various buildings, cars, trees, and many other things so clearly. "Wow this is so amazing! Hey I think I see the roof of my house," she says aloud. She hears the door behind her creak open, whipping her head around to see who it was.
She finds a girl who was, of course, taller than her. The girl was also a 3rd year like her, obvious from the color of the uniform. She had pretty big eyes and her hair was light brown, with side bangs off to her right. "Wow. Didn't expect anyone here. Why are you here?" the girl asks in a slightly snappish manner.
"Now, now Seungyeon. Don't have to be so curt." Another girl, also a 3rd year, comes up from behind the girl who questioned Sunny. This girl had hair just passing her shoulders, slightly wavy, and clad with a navy blue headband that complimented her uniform. "Sorry about that. My friend may sound mean but she's a nice person once you get to know her." She elegantly flips her hair back, then giving a smile at Sunny.
"Thank you for the reassurance Gyuri," the girl Seungyeon mutters.
Sunny stares at the girls. "Seungyeon... and Gyuri?"
Gyuri looks at her. "Why yes that would be our names. What is your name?"
"You two don't happen to be friends of Goo Hara, are you?"
"You know of Hara?" questions Seungyeon.
"Mmhm. I'm Sunny the new girl here. Well I guess I'm not that new anymore," Sunny says laughing softly.
"Ah so you're Sunny. We heard about you from Hara," says Gyuri. "I'm Park Gyuri. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Han Seungyeon. I apologize for my tone earlier," she says, giving a small bow.
Sunny looks at them with awe. Sunny feels this aura of maturity around these two and it showed from the way they were speaking. They soundway more formal than her friends Yuri and Taeyeon. Sunny also feels an invisible wave of beauty eminating from Gyuri, while Seungyeon's wave had this choding feel yet kindness underneath that. Sunny says, "Glad to finally meet the two of you. And it's okay Seungyeon I didn't mind. Why are you two on the roof?"
"This is the area we often eat our lunch at," explains Seungyeon. "It is far too crowded in the cafeteria. Loud as well. The roof is more tranquil and it isn't against the rules to have lunch here."
"Buy why are you up here?" Gyuri asks Sunny.
Sunny lowers her head. "Well... it's something I'm unsure of heading into.." She tells Gyuri and Seungyeon about how she feels about knowing of the Seungri situation.
The girls were sitting on a blanket Gyuri brings. Gyuri says, "Seungri... it's been so long since I've seen him. Although to be honest, I'm frightened to see him again, especially after hearing what he did to Hara and especially Sooyoung."
"I still find it odd that Sooyoung told you this story in the first place. But it's fine with me I suppose," Seungyeon sighs. "But I share the same thoughts as Gyuri. When we heard what happened a year ago, it did not sound like the Seungri we knew. Not at all."
"How did Seungri usually act?" Sunny asks.
"To put it simply, he was a kind boy who deeply cared for his friends. Hara especially. He had a crush on her ever since he laid eyes on her. Yet... he was also the type who could be easily bullied. He was somewhat of a pacifist, he never used violence to get what he wanted, so I suppose it made him an easy target. We knew after Hara, Gyuri, and I attended this school, Seungri was beginning to change. But we didn't know to what extent."
Gyuri adds, "Which was why we were so startled when we heard of his rampage. Change is natural but to think his pacifist ideals would suddenly disappear. And to slap Hara and punch Sooyoung.... that doesn't sound like the Seungri we grew up with.."
Sunny bites her bottom lip. "Do you think somewhere inside him is the old Seungri?"
"Frankly... I'm not sure anymore," Seungyeon sighs. "I hope Sooyoung protects Hara. It seems evident to me that she's the only one who can."
"Thanks you two. I'm glad to learn more about this. I have to admit though... I'm pretty scared of the whole thing," Sunny says standing up.
"I think we all are," Seungyeon adds ominously.
"Even though we just met, you can come talk to us if you just need to let out your thoughts," Gyuri offers.
Sunny thanks them again and leaves the girls to their lunch. She follows the same path she walked before and heads for the cafeteria, remembering that "amazing" thing that Taeyeon mentioned earlier. 'I wonder if I missed it.' As she just enters the cafeteria, a loud wave of screams and squeals erupt inside. Sunny had to muffle the sound by covering her ears. Some girls were jumping up and down, hands waving in the air. In the crowd, Sunny sees Yoona and walks over to her.
"Yoona what's going on?" Sunny asks the younger girl.
"Sunny unni! Yuri unni declared her love for Jessica unni and asked her out! Of course Jessica unni said yes!" Yoona giggles madly. "It was amazing and so touching."
"No way!" Sunny manages to find a clear opening and sees Yuri and Jessica. Jessica was crying from happiness and her arms were around Yuri's neck. Yuri wasn't crying but she had a huge smile on her face and her arms were wrapped around Jessica's waist. "Yoona let's go congratulate them!" She grabs the younger girl's hand and together they push through the crowd of girls.
When they got to the officially new couple, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun, Sooyoung, and even Hara and her friends Nicole and Jiyoung were saying their congratulations. Sunny steps up to Jessica and Yuri, Yoona already giving them hugs. "I'm so happy for you guys," Sunny grins.
"Thanks," Jessica manages to say in between sniffles. "I can't believe you Kwon Yuri, jumping on a table with a megaphone in hand, yelling your confession to me..."
"Singing you a ballad she wrote herself to you," Sooyoung adds.
Jessica nods. "Gosh.... you pabo..."
"That's fine with me. I'll forever be your pabo," Yuri laughs, hugging Jessica. "Sorry if I'm not the greatest singer. There's a reason why I'm in track and not choir."
"I don't care about that. All I care about is being with you.." Jessica buries herself in Yuri's chest
Taeyeon nudges Hyoyeon in the side with her elbow. "Aren't you glad you helped with this? You could text
Eunhyuk anytime, but this happens only once in a life time."
Hyoyeon chuckles. "Yeah. You're right. I don't regret help planning all of this. This is definitely the highlight of my day."
In her mind, Sunny agrees with Hyoyeon. The day started out depressing but seeing her two friends so happy... how could she be sad around them? For the first time today, Sunny pushes back all of her negative thoughts, leaving only the feeling of happiness in her with no trace of worry.
