"What nature has taught me is..."
...ALOT!!! I can't sum up in words all the things I have learned by spending time outside in the woodlands or fields or inside with a houseplant. Nature has taught me so much. It has been my biggest teacher, mentor, and influence in my life.
One of the things that nature has taught me is that we are all connected. Everything, right down to the little amoeba. I eat plants which absorb nutrients from the soil which is churned up by burrowing earth worms and other such creatures. Each of those things plays a vital roll in my health and therefore I am connected to them all. (If you're a meat eater this all gets more complicated).
Also the rain that we feel when it pours out of the clouds? It could've originally evaporated from the Red Sea or the Gulf of Mexico. Nature has it's own form of recycling. The rain falls down and moisturizes the soil which in turn makes things grow. What is left as standing water (and even some that seeps into the soil) eventually evaporates to be carried off by the wind to another place.
Nature has also taught me that there is a purpose for everything that exists. This also means the not so nice things people prefer to sweep under the rugs. There would be no good without evil. No right without wrong. No predator without prey. No day without night and so on and so on. Life is a balancing act. I feel I need to strive to live as much in balance as I can. Even death has a place. Without it, we wouldn't value life so much. It would be just another thing we expect and take for granted.
Nature has also taught me that no matter how much humans pave over the world with cement and asphalt that nothing will stop Her from claiming what is rightfully Hers. If I walk down any sidewalk I can easily see grass and dandelions poking through the cracks. Even in the medians and the streets (if they aren't smooshed) they manage to poke their way through. Persistence and dedication. Two more lessons nature has taught me.
In truth, the leassons are endless and I could go on and on. Nature will continue to be a teacher of mine and I will always be Her faithful student.
(xposted to my dA journal)
I had a bit of writer's block (read: ALOT) so I started reading a journal writing book. It was all about creative journaling. It got me journaling again and things just kinda opened from there a bit. Anyway this writer's block has lasted about 6 months now. So I've been doing some writing prompts trying to get back into the swing of things and find some tidbits to use in my story(ies). If you'd like to suggest a writing prompt they are numbered between 1-125. I've already done numbers 99, 76, and 67 (this is 67). The other two are posted over on my dA journal if you wanna read 'em. :)
Good day all!!!
