School starts tomorrow! Oh man. I am so ready and not ready at the same time. I miss my kids and I desperately want a schedule at work and something to do that is NOT sitting on my butt all day (OR running around like a headless chicken hunting down my poor, sick elementary JTEs to hammer out the major problems in the new curriculum). But I am going to miss getting up late and getting into work late and extra long lunches I can use to go wherever I want or hang out with Heather.
Jobs. It's hard to find one where you're happy all the time.
Sports day is coming though! Only two weeks <3 I am so looking forward to watching them train and cheering them on through the ridiculous games again! And this year we have six classes in each grade (last year we graduated a grade of 5 classes) so all three teams are evenly matched.
I am liking the new JETs in the area as well. They're all really nice and we seem to get along! I met the Seino (my area) ones at the summer workshop and I went on the Nagoya tour last Saturday so I met the others, too.
Three of them are only staying for one year but hopefully that means I can get in on or organize group trips around Japan this year and maybe find a few new travel buddies for Christmas. At least half of them seem to have artistic backgrounds, too, which is quite interesting. Lots of painters. And I am not the only scientist!
All the local girls are up for movie-night/sleepover things as well, which is pretty darn cool. It should be a fun year. Maybe fewer winter doldrums. You hear that SADs? I am looking at you.
I have been devouring movies recently. One of the things I've been watching are the special extended editions of LOTR. The extra scenes make the movies so much better. Still no Tom Bombadil, but there is an ent-draught scene and all sorts of other lovely additions.
I'm giving mobeius knitting a go and it's really interesting and easy! I have high hopes for the final product. It's just a
Möbius strip but the construction is neat. You knit from the center outwards, and as you knit you move seamlessly from knitting one side of the strip to knitting the other side and back. It's slightly mind-boggling for a mathematically challenged person like me but really cool.
Other than that not a lot is going on at the moment. I'm going to be heading to Korea in a few weeks, mainly because this year we have a special 5-day weekend for some reason, to visit Tiffany. I'm looking forward to seeing her and a new culture. I hear the food is quite spicy there which will be a nice change from Japanese cuisine! Haven't really decided what I want to see while I'm there yet though.
