Just before I left the house today I heard the rain go from pitter-patter to whamwhamwham. Uh-oh. Time to put the socks in the bag and slip on the sandals. Despite that my feet were fairly soaked by the time I got into my car, a measly twenty foot dash, and by the time the door was closed my door-side was a little damp. After I arrived at school I parked in my usual place under the gym because it guarantees that I can at least get out of the car unmolested by the rain.
Unfortunately it was raining so hard that the drains were all backed up (some of them frothing in complaint) and there was no more parking lot. Only puddles of semi-wet pavement poking out through the 1-2 inch deep water. I kept my top half dry under the umbrella but my lower half... well. I did manage to squeeze some of the water out of my pant legs but I'm going to be spending the next hour drying out. Luckily the first and only class today is my one free class on Fridays. The rest of the day will be taken up with a Sports Day meeting, cleaning, the closing ceremony, and home room so being wet is not a huge impediment to my day. Sure glad the weather was still nice when I picked up stuff from Danielle's the other day!
I was woken up by a few big flashes of lightning and bangs of thunder this morning, too. Obviously going to be that kind of day.
There is going to be a Solar Eclipse next week! Up to 70% darkness! It's on the day I leave for home but if I get to the airport a few hours early I can watch it from the airport balcony! *fingers crossed for moderate weather* One of the teachers and the special 1st year student at my elementary school made 'eye protector' viewers with a shiny strip so we can watch the reflection safely.
Also: I have made yarn all by myself. It is rather lumpy and irregular but it held together through the plying process. This is progress.
