Posty post.

Oh dear, once again I have let an actual post slide for a really long time. Recently it seems as if I have been really busy. I am not actually sure this is true, as I seem to have enough time to myself to feel just fine, but perhaps that is pushing time for things like internet updates out of the way ( Read more... )

That sounds like a fun and busy weekend! I like walking around and looking at things around my town. When I went walking with my family we found a little traditional temple with a beat up old couch and lawn chairs out on the porch. I'm glad you're learning their Korean names! I never understand not just getting people to pronounce their proper names. The Japanese just expect you to be able to handle their real names.

Cormorant fishing: As in, the birds do the work and you give them a bite after ??

Well, they have a piece of straw tied around the base of their necks, so the large fish can't be swallowed, but they can eat all the tiny fish they want. And they feed them more after they're done fishing. It's all very traditional but the birds are very well cared for.

Pretty much every mountains I've seen around here has a shrine or two at the bottom so that wouldn't surprise me at all! You'll have to take pictures when you go :)

Oh Gawd!
You're not going to want to give that Spinning Wheel away.
But that's OK as long as your Mother comes over to help you pack.
I used to call her "The Cargo Master" :)

Haha, it's okay. What Danielle is doing is selling it to me and then using that money and some of her own to buy a new one when she gets home. So I may do that, too. These things are not readily available in Japan so if I go through the knitting/spinning community here I can probably find someone and then just go travelling to give it to them.

It is a portable spinning wheel, as in it folds down flat, but it's still probably more than I want to bring home in a suitcase.
