A day of nothing.

Oh test days. How I dislike sitting at my desk all day with nothing to do at all. Oh well. I discovered this interactive map where you can read and/or listen to historical bits about BC. And I have rediscovered my love of Rick Mercer. You should all go watch the Beard of Bees clip from Oct 7th if you haven't already seen it.

Last weekend was a veritable whirlwind on Saturday with a trip up to the Seki Sword/Cutlery Festival followed by dinner at Chisako's and the Mino Paper Lantern Festival. The Cutlery Festival was pretty cool, there were bamboo cutting and sword making demonstrations. I didn't get any knives (said to be the best in Japan) but some of my friends did. The Mino lantern festival was beautiful.

Sunday I went to the Mikoshi Festival in Ogaki but due to some slow notification and a wedding there were only about 8 foreigners in our group. Because four of them were my height or taller the few Japanese in our group who wanted to help couldn't do much, but many of them weren't helping at all. Definitely not as awesome fun as last year. My shoulders are still bruised from hauling the shrine the whole time XD

Monday I took it easy and made some chocolate applesauce muffins for myself and cleaned out my bookshelf. I discovered that at least half of the books are ones I could give up to the book exchange at the next JET conference so that was nice. I also finished Anne of Green Gables while I was cooking. Such a good book. I have The Secret Garden waiting in the wings to be read again, too.

Got my vote in two weeks ago (by EMS in hopes that it would arrive by today) so that's out of the way. Hope I never have to pay $14 total to vote again. And I'm gonna go swimming this evening! Yay!
