Just a little followup to last night's debacle. I left the note for Brenda. Found one stuck to the door this morning - well, stuck to the laundry room door, which is funny, because if I had decided to hide in my room until I found an excuse to leave the house, I wouldn't have found it. I fully expected to find one, I just figured she'd stick it under my door. But whatever, that gave me a few extra hours of peaceful sleep.
Here's what her reply note says:
Hi Dana
I got your note
A couple of things
1) I'm happy you're getting to move your stuff
2) There is no agreement that people can traipse in + out
The Dogs are totally freaked out + I'm having stress
Please have your buyers come anytime up to 6pm ^if at all possible in the day. Put the dogs behind the baby gate before they arrive so they feel safe. and release after.
Thanks /B
(formatting and grammar and punctuation all hers)
I would like to address number 2.
"There is no agreement that people can traipse in + out"
1. They're not "traipsing" anywhere, they're being invited and escorted in and out.
2. There WAS an agreement, when I moved in - a verbal agreement that I could have guests, within reason (I have a reason to have these guests), as long as they did not stay overnight.
3. There does not HAVE to be an agreement that they are allowed to come in, because by default, the access to my space is public unless/until a private avenue of access is provided.
Them's the breaks.
But, at least she's not repeating her "they're not coming in, it's my house and they're not coming in" mantra anymore. I can *deal* with a 6pm cap (if at all possible - which it may not be as we get closer to moving day and I run out of options with which to meet people). I can *deal* with putting the dogs away, which I was planning on doing when people show up to move the big stuff, just so they don't get *tripped* on while we carry big furniture back and forth. Just that the two people who came over yesterday, one was unplanned and annoyingly insistent, and the other was very nice and the dogs actually calmed down rather quickly with her (she works at a pet store, so she has one of those demeanours around animals...).
Anyway. Just wanted to vent a little. I'm still fucking tired of talking to Brenda and wish to avoid doing so whenever possible.
Meh.
