GREENWICH TWP. -- A 20-year-old Washington Street man was arrested after allegedly being found with two exotic snakes stolen from a Franklin Township pet store -- one of which bit him.

Franklin Township police notified detectives here on Jan. 7 that two tiger pythons valued at $450 each had been stolen from Animal Trax in Malaga, police said.

Police went to the apartment at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday and found the snakes, which were returned to their owner unharmed. Also in the man's apartment were two large iguanas, a corn snake and lizards and frogs, said police.

The man, charged with receiving stolen property, allegedly had rigged a canvas bag inside his trousers to conceal the snakes and put them in the bag through a cutout pocket, police said. One of the pythons reportedly managed to get partly out of the canvas bag and bit the man on the scrotum, said police.

The man, who was served with a complaint summons and released, did not request medical treatment, police said.
