I am Furious and Heartbroken

UPDATE: I wasn't aware the report about the poor baby found in Clark Park is originally from Thanksgiving time when I shared it. The cat was named Clark Kent and is currently recovering well (but with kidney problems) in a foster home. The 'owners' were charged and ordered to appear in court but were MIA. I'll share any further info I come ( Read more... )

This story originally came out right around (US) Thanksgiving. The cat, called Clark Kent now, is currently in a foster home and doing much, much better! He had some rough times, but lots of people donated money to help him, and he's a tough fellow, which is how he got his name!

Follow the links in the original post and find the Cat Doctor. They've updated on Clark periodically. The last pic I saw of him was curled up in a nice warm spot in his foster home looking happy and relaxed.

I was about to post the same thing! Both City Kitties and the Cat Doctor have Facebook pages where they update regularly about Clark Kent. He spent about a month in a foster family having his strength built up, recovering after surgery (he had swallowed a piece of metal, poor thing) etc. and should be put up for permanent adoption very soon.

Mind you, the poor cat will always have kidney trouble as a consequence of his ordeal; and need bi-weekly subcutaneous injections (something than can be done at home) and his blood will need to be watched for anaemia; but he's not happy and well taken care of.

The cow (and I apologise to cows everywhere) who abandoned him was taken to court and got the maximum sentence, which unfortunately is only being barred to own an animal for 90 days. She's also supposed to pay medical costs, and I hope the Cat Doctor takes her to court again if she doesn't pony up.

That's the pic I saw, too! He looks so relaxed and content. Given everything he's been through, he's earned a lot of pampering!

That's really terrible. So many people think of animals as 'disposable' and it's awful.

If the "owner" was banned from keeping any pets for life, it would be too light a sentence! Why must the sentences for animal cruelty and human cruelty be so different?
