I've given myself to cool down some. I'm feeling better, though a still a little grumpy and reserved. It comes and goes, not a big deal. To be expected.
Erica and Kait are possibly some of the best people anyone could ask for. I get a call just before nine o'clock on Thursday night from Kait.
'What kind of ice cream do you want?'
'What?'
'Erica and I are in Meijer right now, then we're coming over. What kind of ice cream do you want?'
'Guys, you really don't have to-'
'Shut it, Kate, you were just in a wreck. We're coming over for a girl's night. We're bring ice cream. Now, vanilla, chocolate, Ben and Jerry's, Haagen Daas...?'
Next thing I know, they're over here and chilling with me, when Jober calls Erica. Then he and his super nice gf are over here too and we're all talking while I devour a pint of ice cream. Casablanca is still playing because earlier I had decided to wallow in beer and Bogart... Until my beer dropped out of my hand and I lost half of it to the carpet gods. Anyway, it was great to be around friends. Especially when I was as crappy as I was. They were there to be with me. At first because of the accident, but then it was just to see me. To let me unload and take it easy. It was great.
Since I couldn't make it home this weekend like I had been planning, Tony came down here Friday. Finally saw Batman Begins. Then we went to the Brew Pub, where after paying and getting my change the waitress said,
'Can I ask you something?'
'Sure.'
'Is it your dad who comes in here a lot?'
Tony and I bust out laughing. 'Uh, yeah, that's him.'
'We haven't seen him lately.'
'Yeah, he lives in Portland, so he doesn't get down as much as he'd like to.'
'Well, tell him that we all miss him.'
My father about died when I told him that he's a legend at the Brew Pub. 'Well, Kate, I can't think of anywhere else I'd really rather be remembered...'
Anyway, I'm taking it easy today. Maybe I'll clean some more. This place needs it, but we'll see. I'm really tired after all the drama of last week. May sleep all day.
