I am having awful luck with carpet pythons. They just die for no apparant reason, and I can't see anything that I am doing wrong. My other snakes are doing great. My little Irian Jaya died a few months back, due to unknown causes. Seemed to be doing fine, and then I found her upside down with her mouth open, and dead. I got a jungle carpet soon after, hoping to have better luck, because I love jungle carpets. But nooo. I found him today, upside down and dead with his mouth open. The only difference I could see is that he regurged and THEN died. The only thing I could see that maybe have happened, is that when he died, I was out of town for a couple of days. While I was out of town, my bulbs blew out in my reptile room. So he was without heat for a day. The rest of my snakes are doing alright, though. So I don't know. I'm done with carpets, though.
I am, however, downsizing some. I'm willing to part with my lavender albino striped kingsnake, my female hognose snake (western), and possibly a few geckos. The reason for this is that my bearded dragon eggs are hatching, and I am starting a breeding program with my hog island boa next spring. I need to clean out some room to care for the babies until they get homed. And prehaps when I have enough money and room, I'll use some of the money from the hoggs to get my dream snake, the GTP. Of course, if anyone is interested in some snakies I'm willing to part with, contact me.
So, it has been an eventful day. RIP Suki. I still don't know what happened to you, but you were one hell of a bitch while you were alive.
