By the way:
Sometimes it was just NOT a good idea to have certain people sitting at the same table.
Sitting within three feet of one another.
Within breathing distance.
Just in the reach of knives.
Clark Kent pulled his tie nervously as Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor stood simultaneously.
The next thing anyone knew, Bruce was being pulled off of Lex and spitting on his luxury tux in disgust. Clark was the one pulling him off, staring down at Lex wiping the blood from his lip.
Bruce Wayne packed a punch when he was ticked off.
“I’m so tired of your shit!” Bruce spat. “You scream you love him, but you demean him at every fucking turn!”
That was partially the alcohol talking and the rage at the last comment Lex had made at the reporter gawking at Bruce. Bruce slipped free of his grasp and stepped forward again, aiming to give him a shiner with that busted lip.
Clark grabbed him again, this time holding on with a lot more effort.
Lex snarled, getting to his feet and pointing his finger directly in the space between Bruce’s flaring eyes. “You have no right to talk!” he spat back. “I knew him long before you! I know everything about him!”
“Like HELL you do! All you know is that he’s a reporter for the Daily Planet. You don’t know how his eyes fixate on the clouds when rain comes, or how he stands in the rain for fifty minutes soaking in the presence of the heavens…you don’t know how his heart aches when he’s forced to watch the horrors of the world and write about them…” he paused long enough to pull himself free from Clark’s grip again, grabbing the lapels of that designer suit and pulling Lex to be an inch away from their noses touching.
“You don’t know SQUAT about CLARK and don’t pretend you do!!”
He shoved Lex hard away from him, ignoring the crash of Lex’s body hitting the table behind him. He adjusted the cuffs of his jacket and snorted at Lex trying to get back up.
He grabbed Clark’s hand, and pulled the stunned reporter this time.
“By the WAY…dinner is on you,” he spat walking off with Clark in tow. "See you at OUR wedding!"
Lex wiped the oozing remains of dinner off of his face. “…That went well.”
Yeah. Right.
*runs away* I know!
