Well over a month ago the general manager at my theatre brought a huge box of mylars (the little signs for movies that go above the doors to the theatres and in the lobby and above the box office) upstairs and said to me "Here - you're artistic. Do something cool with these." He really just intended for me to stick them on the wall any old way, but of course I can't do anything "any old way" so I... did absolutely nothing for a very, very long time. Then I organized them by color and they sat there for another very, very long time. Hey - you can't rush inspiration. Then it all hit at once. At least three ideas came to me, so I started on the first one and finished it in a little over a week. Project #1 - Sunset:
Notice the grass and the small mountain the yellow sun and the orange sky around it, the lighter blue blending into the darker blue... :) So there's one segment of wall covered. That was fun. I'm thinking some pyramids might be next, then perhaps a giant smiley face or something. The only problem is that there are only so many mylars of each color. There are a ton of black and white ones, quite a few blue ones (though I used most of them for this project), and surprisingly a lot of brown, but very few red, yellow, orange and grey, and I used every single green one on the sunset. Oh well. Limits inspire greater creativity, so I'll just do the best I can with what I have. I'll be sure to post more pics whenever I get another one finished!
