SUCKERPUNCH
a blow that the person who receives it is not expecting
If you're not currently living underneath a rock,
You've probably heard of the cultmovie 'suckerpunch'.
Well, it's a very unique movie, as expected.
A psychological drama, from the maker of Inception and Watchmen.
The deal is, a lot of people think it's a bad movie,
because they don't fully understand it.
That's why I'm going to try explaining the storyline,
as I interpreted it. You can see this as a review-kinda.
SUCKERPUNCH.
There are alot of references to things in the movie itself.
For example the paralell line between Babydoll and Sweetpea's lifes.
Babydoll accidentally killed her sister
Sweet Pea accidentally killed her sister
Dragon on fire shizzle
Fighting the dragon
Who's imagination is it?
Right from the start I knew this movie wasn't about Babydoll.
Because they talked about angels that could take the form of a little school girl.
So I thought something along the lines of;
Okay so we're going to follow the storyline of a certain angel that saves someone?
The movie let me to believe otherwise, but I was once again 'corrected' to believe my first opinion after all, at the end.
The beginning when they first put the lobotomy tool to her face and then it cuts to the stage scene, that's the end. They did it backwards, so when they sat her down in the beginning, basically her "life" flashed before her. So right before they gave her the lobotomy, she relived the events in her head. She really did do all that stuff in the asylum setting. Remember, the club wasn't real, it was in her head
No, not even close! See, the brothel/ strip club was all in her mind. In reality, she was still stuck in the mental institution, and the doctor performed the lobotomy on her. The lobotomy made her forget everything that happened, which is why at the end, blue was like "What, you're not here?" she didn't physically escape the institution, but she mentally and emotionally did. She was still very much alive, but she just no longer had the memory of anything that happened
the dance was representative of real world events, in which she faced similar peril. she couldn't find the strength in reality to get the objects and outsmart the orderlies so she retreated into a reality in which she had the strength to overcome anything and therefore found the strength to do what was necessary in the real world. it wasn't mindless action you should really analyze it a little more if you think that.
