TO ANYONE IN MANHATTAN:

If you are looking for a roommate, my friend Jessica is looking to move there sometime in late August/September (depending on when she can find a roommate). Are any of you looking for one or know of someone who is? She definitely wants to be in Manhattan.

oh thank you, i appreciate it and i am living vicariously through you with your Project Runway encounters!

she says that she'd pay up to $1000/mo. she'd love to live in the city, but if she can't, as close as possible. less than a 45 min commute probably. she didn't specify on a neighborhood.

in the city:

for under $1000, Hell's Kitchen (my area) is great...good area, rents not ourageous. Also Lower east side is great and not too expensive. Alphabet city is cheap...and dirty.

Outside:

A really good place is Astoria, Queens. It has 5 trains that run through it (maybe more) into the city and is the closet area of queens to the city. Some parts of Astoria is a 10 min commute to midtown. It's also relatively inexpensive and has a LOT of young people there now. Very diverse neighborhood, LOTS of greek people. She might even find a one bed for less than 1K there.

Williamsburg Brooklyn is a little overrated and expensive now too. Park Slope is lovely but pricey and far. All in all for a fast commute, Brooklyn is not the fastest outer burrough to get into the city.

Ill keep my ears open about ppl needing roomies.
