Ten Penny Doll

Feb 06, 2006 18:48

Finger nails up to my eyes
Scratching, tearing
I would cry, but would you be listening?
You never share my tears
Especially not the ones made of blood

With my lips up to your ears
I’d spin a beautiful dream
I bring you so much comfort, would you
Please do the same?
No, never, I am not worth this much.

Ragged little doll in the window
With a cracked face
How much would you pay
To put her out of her misery?
Ten pennies is far too much for you.

I am yours, I am never yours
I’m just a doll
You decide
I am not worth the one square foot space
Of dusty shelf I take up.
