How to Post an Image lauren May 18 2005, 21:12:07 UTC
Hey Katie, this is Lauren... I'm here to help!

All right, first what you need to do to post your own pictures is have a host. Space on the Internet is what you need for your picture & I have two sites to recommend to host your images.

Photobucket
ImageShack

Both of these sites will host pictures for you for free. One of them (Photobucket) will allow you to create an album account for your pictures, while ImageShack hosts images on an image-by-image basis, meaning that it is difficult to relocate the pictures once you've uploaded them. Therefore, I recommend Photobucket to you.

Once you've registered an account for Photobucket, you will need to upload an image. Once you have logged in, you will be taken to a screen that has the following at the top:

To upload a picture, hit the "Browse" button & select the image you want to upload from your computer. Remember that there is a size restriction, so make sure that your image isn't too large or Photobucket will resize it.

All right, once you've picked your image, hit the "Submit" button to upload it to your account. Once you have uploaded the image, you will see a screen similar to this one:

Ok, so now you have your image uploaded to Photobucket. All you need to do now is post it! To do what we like to call "direct linking", that is, make the image appear on any particular website, you need to know two things: (1) the URL of the image you want to direct link to &; (2) the HTML code to direct link to the image.

The URL of the image you just uploaded is given to you in your Photobucket account as is the HTML code.

All you have to do is copy either the URL of your image or the "Tag" text if you want to put an image in an entry. If you copy the URL, you need to paste it in the HTML code to show an image, which is below:

If you copy the line of code in the "Tag" box, you can just paste that line into a journal entry to have your image show up.

Hope that helped a little bit!
