I haven't been able to post anything new for quite some time. This is mostly because I've been really busy... and lazy (hehe). Still, I think I should write this entry.
Yesterday, I attended The GUIDON T2 Day. At the end of the day, I can't help but feel that so much has changed in the org... and I like it!
I've been with this student publication/organization for 2 years and counting. I joined this org as a freshman primarily because I thought it was common sense to join the student publication because of my high school background as a writer. Of course, I know now that writing for the high school paper and a college publication are quite different. My first year as a guidoneer was marked by my first ever cut (kasalanan ni Patty! haha...), first interview with an administrator, first scrapped article, and first hellish taste of transcribing among others. By my second year, the list of firsts increased. So much has happened in that span of time, both negative and positive. I admit that I wasn't that deeply committed to The GUIDON last year because there were things I didn't like (the errata for one)... and I had to juggle my acads (I'm really glad I'm through with accounting), ACMG, and other stuff. From how the T2 Day turned out, I think we've all learned from the mistakes of the past and are looking towards improving the student paper and fostering better ties among guidoneers and the rest of the Ateneo community.
I think I can now say this with much conviction: I LOVE THE GUIDON!!! I may continue to complain about the stress heaped on me (I've been trying to tame my tongue :D) but I wouldn't continue doing what I do if i didn't think that it matters. It matters not only to the org but also to me. The GUIDON has helped me grow as a person, along with the other orgs I've been involved with. As Scott Peck said (Theo! haha), love requires effort. Besides, hindi na kayo nasanay sakin! Hahaha... Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year with the belief that things can only get better and better. :)
