See, I did something creative.
I have developed a minor fetish for Moleskines over the past couple of years. I used to eye them in bookshops, but never felt that spending that amount of money on a notebook was worth it. I met a guy at a writing group who had a pocket notebook in which he scrawled his crabby hand in every direction. Rather than listening to other people's poetry etc I found myself eyeing the pages of his book instead. Eventually I picked at a set of cahiers in Selfridges and found that I didn't have the normal pangs I get with expensive notebooks - that what you do in them must be worth the price of the paper it's written on. I also liked not having lines as it gave me the freedom to not only write in it, but to doodle, paste pictures in and write diagonally if I so desired.
Before I came to Japan I picked up two notebooks and recall applying glitter to one of the covers whilst waiting for Strictly Come Dancing to come on TV. The living room was hot and uncomfortable from the heating being on too high, and my mum was asleep on the sofa whilst I sprawled across the floor.
So my new one is ready to go. Now what to put in it. The first page is always the hardest, I feel like it should be something meaningful. In fact it will probably be some nonsense scrawled after one too many red wines.
Oh, and if you click the Flickr thinger on the left you can not only see more Moleskine pics, but also some photos from my trip to Australia, finally available to those without Facebook.
And two more photos: the "Neko-chan" who hangs around outside Yongo Yongo, and the black sesame tofu I enjoyed there last night.
