Strange relations

Every family has them. That odd aunt or crazy uncle that everyone spends time with because they have to, then go off and snicker about behind his or her back. Not in a mean way, just because this person is "peculiar". I happen to have several. I have this uncle who is so strange. He's lived a very "fussy" life. Everything has to be organized and in its place. loves to talk about absolutely nothing, he'll ask you questions but never lets you answer, so since he didn't hear the answer, he'll ask you again. He was at my husband's party on Sunday and met my daughter's in laws. He discovered that his former neighbors were related to these people, but couldn't figure out how (because he didn't stop talking long enough to hear the answer). So he asked me at the party, called me at home that night, called again the next day, and again tonight. I know he still doesn't get it. Cause he thinks Tom's gram is Tom's mom or Tom's mom is his gram. But I tried to explain who was who. Fell on deaf ears. Then there's my dad. 89 years old, still really great mentally and physically, but can be a royal pain in the butt. He's the constant "poor me" guy. You know? Never has enough money to do what he wants. Can't eat the foods he wants. Never had a birthday party. Apparently never had anything. So his purpose in life is to bitch and moan to me, and be nice and funny to everyone else. UGH! Then we have my husband's aunt who lives with her cousin (in the marital sense) Yeah, they're both almost 90, but this has been going on for years! And the cousin with the really, really bad toupee. We all make fun of him, but love him just the same. Yup. Every family has them. Those people who drive you nuts, but you can't imagine how much you'll miss these little quirks when they're gone. So for now, we just smile and carry on.
