It bizarre, having a snowday in college. For some reason I tend to associate snowdays with middle school and hot chocolate and having friends over. This is something else entirely. It completely cuts off motivation to work, or even play. There's a sense of calm peace around campus. There's someone in the lobby playing the piano, the blinds are open and letting in the white bright light of the snow covered courtyard, and things seem so very right. As the day goes on, there are more and more people outside, leaving their trails in the icy snow and dimming the fairy like wonder of the morning. Things remain frosted though, the trees look like glass sculptures.
This weather inherently brings with it a sense of nostalgia. Maybe not nostalgia perhaps, but this feeling of warmth and happiness. As long as you're inside and warm, there's a sort of sense home, even if you're not home. It's extremely hard to think about mundane things like homework and studying when there's a white blanket over the world as you know it.
