Some of you might have read my previous eco-tip informing you of the existence of cheap and cheerful eco-friendly tee-shirts in high-street shops. but as
yearning pointed out, are those, if eco-friendly, ethical?
Well, if you have your reserves on that matter, but have a very limited budget, why not buying your clothes in a Charity shop of your choice? In the U.K. - more than in France for instance, where second-hand is not appreciated to its true value - you have a very wide choice and can decide whether you'd rather give money to the Elderly (Age-Concern), the seriously ills (Cancer Research UK), the developing countries (Oxfam), the Little Ones (Barnardo's), etc etc.
You can also recyle your own clothes, by customising them : just a needle, thread, fun stuff and some imagination are sufficient, and at least you'll have something 'different' from the millions of Clones out there. If you doubt of your sewing-capacities, you can always buy customised recycled clothes from
TRAID [which stands for Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development]; and they have a beautiful 'Bag for Life' that would help you following
yearning's tip from yesterday.
Also, don't forget to donate the stuff you don't use anymore; provided it is in a good state, that is (it is pretty insulting to donate junk).
