I've been regularly checking out your blog from some time now - partly because I am too a French-speaking expat who's into culture stuff; partly because I love London and I wish my (otherwise lovely) boyfriend were British rather than Italian; and, last but not least, partly because of your cat (I soooo want one.... but then my flat is way to small...).
Well well... Am afraid I don't own a blog (I know myself too well: I'd write two entries in the first week, and then be silent for the next two months), and naming myself would be quite useless (when I google my name, the only two hits I get are comments from three years ago on marmiton.org ... quite lame I know). Suffice to say I live in Milan, and I am a press officer at an opera house (I wonder which one...). So, should you ever come to the north of Italy, give me a shout and I might arrange for you to visit the museum that's adjacent to the opera house for free, as a reward for entertaining me during my long days in front of the computer.
wow. i'm jealous now. i've only been once to Italy (Rome, a few years back) and since then I long for visiting again, seeing other cities, going in the countryside... i'd definetely give you a shout if we come by, unfortunetaly i don't even know when we'll ever have time and money to go anywhere on holidays. thanks for the invitation. suffice to say, if you come by London.... give me a shout too. I don't really understand what you find special in my posts (i write for friends and family, basically, so it must look pretty boring for 'strangers') but thanks all the same for showing your appreciation. I'll try to avoid securing most of the posts with pictures of the Kitten! any name i could call you by? [my name is Melanie]
Right right, I'll come forward and introduce myself better: my name is Pauline, I am 25 and Belgian. I found your blog googling for "expat in London" (or sth like that). We did actually go to London (my favourite city in the world)in February; we went to the V&A (such a pity that the surrealists exhibition only opened a few weeks ago), to the British Museum, and to the Tate Modern - we caught the Gilbert and Georges exhibition (which my boyfriend hated: "why do they have to show turds all the time?"). You are the lucky one: you live and London and you can see all those fab exhibitions...
Enchantée, Pauline! You are the lucky one: you live and London and you can see all those fab exhibitions... haha, but you know how it is: when you live somewhere, you never really get to visit your city properly; I am guilty of having missed some very important shows this year, which is scandalous when you think that I am an art historian [btw: I am not a fan of G&G either and am very selective regarding contemporary arts]. I shall go to the Surrealist exhibition soon (after all, I volunteer at the V&A, I should make an effort for this one) and I'll let you know what I thought about it.
Great blog, really
P.
