Two holiday memes under the cut.
Man, so much has been going on in my life, it's crazy. School is crazy hard, but almost over. I met my great-aunt, who I haven't seen since I was very young. She's... just fucking AMAZING, she survived so much cool shit, she's just an amazingly cool woman. I'm going to meet a great-aunt on my mother's side on Saturday. Yay, family, amirite?
My car is still borked. :/ I want a new one, badly, but I need money for that. I applied around for a second job for next semester- my classes will be on Mondays and Wednesdays only, so that's fine. I should be able to hold two part-time jobs. I need money for a car, dental surgery, and for my move next summer. :/

1. My brother has been "borrowing" my computer (without permission) lately to use skype.
2. This is not my usual wallpaper.
3. My usual wallpaper is a very pretty, realistically detailed painting of a forest path leading to stone walls (presumably, of a castle).
4. However, this is not the most mind-raping wallpaper I've ever had.
5. Don't ask what's worse than this.... just.... don't.
Holiday Gift Wish Meme
Step One:
- Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related (fics, picspams, fanmixes) to medium (dvds, books, bracelets, etc) to really big (a new computer, a car, etc). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want. - If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your e-mail address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Step Two:
- Surf around your reading list to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, go for it! Either make that fandom item, or hey sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure.
1. A new car. OH GOD a new car. Just to be able to get around reliably would be wonderful. I don't even mean a NEW new car, used is fine, but a car that RUNS. My preference: a 5 speed little car with awesome gas mileage. Would I turn down something different: No.
2. Pictures, paintings, prints, shopped posters, anything like that of the bands I like (VNV Nation, Seabound, Iris, Abney Park), the books I like (Wicked, Shannara, Song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, Pern, the list goes on for a while and YES I am a fantasy nut!), or anything else I enjoy (mythology, Asian calligraphy, fantasy, wacky humor like the statue of liberty holding up a coat hanger with a speech bubble that says "LOL"....)
3. Steampunk. Steampunk, steampunk, steampunk. Artsy crap from etsy, a doodle of a mechanical man with a gun that shoots velociraptors battling cthulhu, nerf guns, brass/gold paint sets, cog/watch jewelry. A pocketwatch. A book of steampunk stories. GOGGLES. I'm in love with it all <3
4. Give to charity <3 Whether it's volunteering, donations, or anything in between. Do something charitable.
5: Buy stuff from Abney Park's website. They're a fucking fantastic band who don't get enough recognition for how awesome they are. Besides, they sell awesome shit.
6: A book you really enjoyed and want to share. Books shouldn't be bought, read once, then put on the shelf to collect dust. They should be read, reread, shared, dropped in the bath... they should be shared and enjoyed until the binding is gone and a rubber band is holding the pages together. If you have a book on your shelf you really enjoyed and want to share, share it- with anyone who might enjoy it!
7. Back to stuff xD Gift cards! I love borders, I love to eat out at restaraunts, I love finding clothes on sale. Money's always tight- for everyone. Gift cards aren't impersonal, they're appreciated.
8. Time spent with friends. I miss seeing everyone face to face. I want to go have lunch with someone, or hang out at home and watch youtube videos, or BBQ, or walk in the park. I miss my friends <3
9. Appliances and home stuff :3 Hey, if I can put a freaking CAR on here, I can add my apartment wish/need list. Cutlery (a knife set with a block), utensils (forks, spoons and butter knives), dishes (bowls and plates), a deep dish pan or wok, an espresso machine, a toaster or toaster oven, a mixer (my aunt has an AMAZING mixing machine, I'd settle for a hand mixer).. I have: pots and pans, bakeware, cooking utensils (wooden spoons and spatulas), a tea kettle, a french press coffee maker, a crockpot, a chopper, a cutting board and a magic bullet (who needs a blender?), and tons of glasses and mugs.
10. Take a moment to just appreciate the little things in life. There is magic in the little things... compliment someone's shirt just to see them smile, revel when the barista at starbucks puts her heart into "have a GREAT day!" and then have one, find a piece of unexpected art (ceiling tiles, cupboards, architecture)... just enjoy life for a while.
