Very, VERY disappointing. I feel so empty inside.

I felt like I seriously wasted a good 79 minutes of my life, 90 minutes if you count the previews. (The only good preview, by the way, was for Where the Wild Things Are) Shane Acker really needs to re-think his career.

Now don't get me wrong, the artwork was AMAZING. The graphics were almost level with PIXAR standards. The detail was impeccable, and the sound effects were alright. But the storyline, that's what killed it.

Have you ever picked up a book, opened it about half-way through, and just started reading it from there? That's what this movie was like. Sure it briefly flashed back to the events leading to why things turned ugly. But a lot of the movie left you asking why and how.

Now traditionally movies have sort of a mountain of action pattern, a small spike in the beginning, a huge mountain in the middle, and then a sort of hill towards the end. But 9's action as well as interest pattern was like a ditch. It started out fine, but then just went into the ground, and never resurfaced.

Nothing monumental ever really happened. It was like when you're at a carnival and playing that water gun game. You know that as you shoot water into the clown's mouth, the balloon above it is inflating and is eventually going to pop and suprise you. But with nine, the balloon just never pops.

Let's just say, if i would have realised it early enough, I would have left the theater and demanded a refund.
