... to borrow from Don Cherry on Saturday Night, he always has a segment at the end of Coach's Corner to honour the fallen Canadian soldiers. Today, one of ours comes home and I can see, from my window, where the funeral procession from Toronto to St. Catharines will take place in about 2 hours.
Warrant Officer Dennis Raymond Brown was also an officer with the NRP, he was a reservist and chose to go to Afghanistan of his own volition and prepared his family that this may happen. He worked as an officer at the Courthouse as well, where I saw him at least 3 times a week for almost a year when he worked security detail. I knew he looked familiar.
I didn't really know him all that well, but he was courteous and always smiling. So I just wanted to put this in my journal in the hopes that this is the last time that I will know someone (even vaguely) who's fallen overseas.
