what's in a name?

qotd: What's the origin of your username? If you could change it to anything else, would you, and what would it be?

originally, there was starkat. the basis of the name is pretty basic. star (because i like stars and decorate things with stars) and kat (my nickname to some people is katiekat) i'm not entirely sure why i abandoned that journal. i think i was going through a pretty big transitional period at the time and felt the need for a fresh start. plus i think i was trying to escape philip's attentions. i still look at it from time to time to see what i was doing say, seven years ago today. and because i am a huge sentimentalist.

kitty_katya.. kitty (obvious) and katya.. my name in russian. at the time i started the journal i was crazy in love with my russian teacher, inna tigounstova. like, she inspired poetry and basically paralyzed me whenever she'd look at me. she would call me katya (but she called everyone else by their english names, so i liked that :) (holy shit though, i just looked her up on google and she looks sooo different. still cute though <3) anyways it was her brain that was sexiest. even more tangential: it was a small class and most of them knew she made me swoon, due to one drunken night at felicitas when i spilled the beans. from then on it was constant winks and conspiratorial looks whenever she'd single me out in class. i think she knew, and after a couple of office hours i was convinced she dug me too. but that was probably not the case, who knows. so... katya!

i wouldn't change my username. three is enough

(there was also funereal_star which was for private writings and posting on communities related to things i was going through at the time. so the name reflects that. then i lightened up and transformed it into a photoblog. i really should start that again!)

the end.
