Firstly, I must apologise for my spelling/formatting as I'm posting this on my phone.
I still haven't decided which way to vote today. I have a choice of the three - Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem.
I pretty much have a fundemental disagreement with the values of the Conservative party, which means I'm almost certainly not going to vote that way. This is frustrating since, of the little election literature we've got, this candidate is the one who actually looks like they've put some effort into putting it together and has spelt out their policies properly. (I am also in a Tory safe seat, so they could probably have put a cabbage up for election and still been the favourites to win, admittedly.)
The Labour candidate has sent out two of the three election leaflets that we've recieved. One of these was on cheap paper and contained four picture of the candidate standing in various places around the ward - but they were clearly all taken on the same day and he'd just taken his jacket and/or tie off for some of the pictures. And as much as I appreciate being sent pictures of Labour MPs in various states of undress... Also, his policies are pretty vague and the leaflets make a bit deal of Labour "coming in second place" in this ward. By this, they mean Labour came in second place in 2011 (when the Lib Dems were so unpopular they lost 700+ (?) councillors, and even then they only managed 30 more votes (out of 2500 odd) than the Libs. So what the leaflets are putting forward as the best reason for voting for this guy is pretty much a lie.
We haven't had any leaflets from the Lib Dems. They haven't even put a profile up for the guy on the local Lib Dem website, which they have for every other candidate around here. I don't know his policies, and I had to use google to even find out he was standing. I think they've given up.
So, my choices are a candidate I disagree with, a candidate who's willing to mislead to the point of lying to get votes or Mr Not-appearing-in-this-election. I am less than happy.
