Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back at me). Other people (including me~) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
Meme from
shanima 1. Lib Dems
My political compass will tell you that I am Very Liberal.
I get my Liberal and Democratic views from my dad, a man who constantly complains about the Lib Dems (saying he's considering voting Green this time around) then goes on to vote Yellow anyway. He would be ashamed of me if he knew about my crush on Nick though, being just a tad more leftish than Cleggy and therefore disapproving of him. I do not get any of my Liberal views from my mother, who I take care to disagree with on all occasions. Basically, I've been told you either agree with or rebel against your parents in your political views. And I've managed to do both. Go me.
2. lolitics
Lolitics has motivated me to learn more about actual politics than anything else in my entire life. I've always cared about issues, but never the actual process of politics. I would never have imagined that I'd be religiously watching education debates (and bracing myself for Bercow Smackdowns every time Gove stands up).
Plus the community is less argumentative than any fandom I've lurked around since something like Neopets and Redwall (and that's a looong time ago). The fic is better full stop. The only drawback is that I live in paranoia of the whole comm suddenly losing interest in everything and abandoning ship. That would traumatise me, so you all shouldn't do it.
3. a softer world remixes
If only all my relationships were this simple.
4. stats
I've always been good at numbers, but getting angry at people while using stats is a newfound hobby from uni. I enjoy it a bit too much. My main inspiration in this area is Ben Goldacre, who is in the aggressive end of science journalism, and my great love of pretending to be clever. It's also been quite useful, because most people on my course hate stats with a passion.
Idk, I just seem to be dispositioned to try to understand stuff via numerical means.
5. veganism
I've been a vegan for more than a year now and I haven't melted through lack of protein. I consider this to be an achievement. I've been a vegetarian since I was twelve, so it's been almost a decade of not eating meat. I consider this to be even more of an achievement. It's also given me super ingredients list comprehension skills, which is a useful bonus for anyone who wants to know exactly what's put in food and where it comes from. Alas, I think the e-number-knowledge has pushed useful things out of my brain :(.
