Jaejoong looked through the windows of the carriage to see the foreboding fortress hat was to become his home. The turrets and towers seemed to pierce the dark sky and rain splashed angrily against the barren walls.

Jaejoong was to become Kim Myung Min’s new ward, as both his parents had died during his infancy, and his guardian (his aunt) had died just days ago. Jaejoong had never met Kim Myung Min, or even been to this part of the country before. His carriage rocked violently against eh rough terrain, and the horses seemed to scream in anger at him.

Upon arriving, Jaejoong nimbly stepped out of the carriage, taking care not to step in a puddle of mud. Looking up at the entrance of the mighty building, Jaejoong saw a man who he assumed was Kim Myung Min, his new guardian.

“Jaejoong, my dear boy! Did you have a pleasant journey?”
“Pleasant enough, Mr Kim.”
“Please, call me Myung Min. Come in, come in out of the rain, dear boy.”

The huge hallways was painted a deep blood red, and an enormous stair case led to the upper floors. Myung Min clapped his hands, and a pretty maid appeared out of nowhere.
“Hyori, please show Master Jaejoong to his quarters. Dinner will be in fifth teen minutes.”

Hyori led him up the stairs, then turned left at on the landing. Jaejoong looked down all the corridors leading of this main one, and got the impression of a labyrinth. Eventually they reached two sets of stairs, one leading towards the north, the other the south. She led him up the south facing stairs, and showed him his new ‘room’. It was the size of a small house. There was  a huge bedroom, with a luxury king size four poster. There was an en suit with a beautiful roll top bath, and a small office with a mahogany table. Hyori bowed as she left.

When the door clicked Jaejoong realized how alone in this world he was.

AS he came down his staircase, Jaejoong heard two male voices talking, out of sight. He was going to make his presence know, until he heard them talk about him.

“Does he know?” asked the first
“Who?” came the second’s reply.
“Jaejoong, of course.”
“I don’t think so. Myung Min wouldn’t tell him unless he had too.”
“Hmmm. I hope he doesn’t get in the way.”
“How could he possibly get in the way?”
“Just as long as he doesn’t meddle in matters that don’t concern him,” came a third voice, making Jaejoong jump, “I don’t give a damn what he does.”

Jaejoong heard their footsteps grow distant, and thought about what they had said. What secret? Jaejoong’s sense of trepidation, which had started growing once he’d started his journey here to days ago, increased.

A loud bell was ringing through the house, and Jaejoong assumed it was dinner time. He descended the huge stairs and walked back through the hallway. Hyori saw him, and led him to the dinning room.

Walking through the door, Jaejoong was faced with five people, sitting around the long table.

“Ah, Jaejoong, you found us!” exclaimed Myung Min, sitting at the head of the table. “This is my wife, Boa.” Jaejoong bowed at the beautiful woman sitting opposite Myung Min.
“And these are my nephew and his friend, with live with us, Yoochun and Junsu.” Yoochun and Junsu were sitting next to each other on one side of the table, and both greeted jaejoong. He immediately recognized their voice’s as two of the people he had heard talking earlier.
“And this is my other ward, Yunho.” Jaejoong looked at the only other person sitting at the table, and saw perhaps the most beautiful man he’d ever lain eyes upon. Yunho had a strong jaw, lovely longish hair, and onyx. However, when Jaejoong made eye contact with Yunho, he almost flinched at the coldness within them.

Myung Min signaled for Jaejoong to join them, but the only free seat was next to Yunho. After seeing the coldness in the others eyes, Jaejoong was scared that Yunho would bite him if he sat next to him. However, he couldn’t appear rude, so sat to Yunho anyway. He tried to edge his seat away subtly, but this gave Yunho an angry expression. Jaejoong swallowed hard. This was going to be a long evening.

YUNHO’S POV

“Jaejoong should be here soon.” Yunho didn’t bother to stop reading his book. Junsu had become extremely excited ever since Myung Min had told them he was taking in a new ward. The boy was his best friends from university’s son in law. His parents had died from the flu when he boy was small, and now his aunt had died to. Junsu’s eyes filled with pity every time he thought about it. Yoochun just stared at Junsu like a mad man.
“Junsu, you realize he’s not like us? Do you realize how hard our life will be now.”
Junsu ignored him, looking out the window, shouting
“He’s here, he’s here!”

They stopped at the foot of Jaejoong’s stairs. They saw Hyori leave, and thy stood in silence. Suddenly Yoochun said

“Does he know?”
“Who?” replied Junsu
“Jaejoong, of course.”
“I don’t think so. Myung Min wouldn’t tell him unless he had too.”
“Hmmm. I hope he doesn’t get in the way.”
“How could he possibly get in the way?”
“Just as long as he doesn’t meddle in matters that don’t concern him, I don’t give a damn what he does.” Yunho’s face was hard, and the other two decide to change the subject.

The bell for dinner sounded out, and they rushed to the dinning room. Myung Min wouldn’t let them start without Jaejoong present, so when the door creaked open, they were all relieved to see the boy.

Myung Min introduced Jaejoong to everyone, and Yunho noted his beautiful, song like voice. When Myung Min introduced Yunho, Jaejoong looked right at him. Yunho had never seen such a stunning human...a more stunning anything for that matter. His silky hair was a deep raven, and his eyes where kind, however they seemed to show fear as they held eye contact. Jaejoong was the first to brake the connection, and eventually sat down next to Yunho. Yunho noticed a delicious cheery blossom scent radiating from the beautiful boy.  Jaejoong tried the edge away from yunho, but stopped when he saw Yunho’s expression.
“So, Jaejoong,” Yunho surprised Jaejoong by asking “do you play any instruments?”
“Um, yes, grade eight piano and violin.” Yunho was impressed. He couldn’t stop staring at the boy, asking questions, and was aware of how uncomfortable this made Jaejoong. He smirked.

JAEJOONG’S POV

Yunho kept asking Jaejoong weird questions about his interests and hobbies, and Jaejoong felt like he was being mocked. He saw Yunho smirk when he told him he was learning Mandarin. Annoyed, Jaejoong imaging that Yunho was smirking about this secret that he and the other two and possibly Myung Min and Boa shared. If they were going to mock him, why invite him to stay with him?
